One semester in college has flown by and I have already grown so much in many different ways. At my school, I feel a sense of place and belonging. The staff and students there are wonderful. I have made countless friends, some of which I have grown very close with. Academically, I have also grown. I did not expect to gain so much knowledge about several different subjects areas so quickly. This first semester of college has exposed me to many subjects areas and has made me more confident in my choice of major. It has helped me to realize that I know what I want, and am willing to work as hard as needed to get it. Another way that I have grown this semester is spiritually. Being at a Christian college, I have learned much more about God and am constantly exposed to the Bible. As a result of this, my faith has grown significantly. Overall, my college experience has greatly changed me. I am a stronger, more focused, and more spiritual person; and I am grateful for all of what I have gained.

A man named Elbert Hubbard said, “God will not look you over for medals, degrees or diplomas, but for scars.” When I first started college, the most popular question was “what is your major?” Because of this I thought that college was all about getting my degree in education, but in reality it isn’t. College is not all about the degree you earn after working hard for four years. My first year of college allowed me to figure out who I wanted to be and taught me to be myself. I don’t need to be afraid of life or be strictly devoted to my schoolwork. I have learned that I need to take care of me and every aspect of me. I need to stay well-rounded and be a positive influence in others lives. Where did I learn this from? I learned this from the mistakes that I made and the risks that I took to step outside of my comfort zone. I don’t think that I could have done any of this without the help of Spring Arbor University. I believe that my experience at SAU will be the most valuable experience of my life.

It has changed my life completely, I have grown up so much and found out who I am, I am learning so much education wise and feel like I now know what it really means to be an adult on your own.

What i have gotten out of my college experience is what i put into. Spring Arbor is a very conservative Free Methodist schools and most students take for granted what others never had. There are constant complaints about things like food, and resources that is scarce in urban areas but students fail to see thier priviledge in these situations. So, to escape the "bubble", I spend my time in Jackson where i volunteer with Shelters to get a sense of reality and ideas to change others lives. Also, i believe its fair to note that diversity at this school is non-existent and while adminstrators claim they are working on the problem, the situation is comparable to digging holes in sand. I say this to say that students do not retent because adminstrators fail to offer them any activities that do not isolate them from the group. Also, the teachers fail to be diverse as many of my professors are ethnically unison. I say this not to bash my school but as a way to voice my unheard opinion to a few that might actually make this school live up to its full potential.

What I have gotten out of my college experience is that I have found a since of relationship with my God. When I first came to my school I wasn't sure about how much things would change, I was closed off and a bit scared. But after being here I feel more home then I have ever been. God has reached to my heart and pulled me closer to him. Words cannot express how great of a feeling that is. To feel that all around you. I have been called by my Lord to come here to Spring Arbor and be transformed. It has been a valuable to attend this school because I am forever changed by this school and all that has happened here. My relationship with my Lord is so much better, I don't feel closed off from the world because of the friends I have made here. They have shown me true friendship and helped me in my worst times, without them I would be no were. I feel as though God brought me here to Spring Arbor for a reason, and though I might not know the reason, it has been vauable to attend.

During my first semester in college I have grown so much. Not only am I more secure in my faith, but I am more confident in myself. I believe that a college education is a key part of a persons life. The benefits of coming to Spring Arbor are endless. I am getting a quality CChristian education while starting my adult life and slowly becoming completly non-dependant on my parents. Coming to college as allowed me to realize that I will be able to live and thrive on my own.

What I have gotten from my college experience is an opportunity to grow and mature as a person. I have learned to become independent personally and professionally. This is valuable to me because I know that I am a person that will have a positive impact on my community.
Second, I have also gone farther school wise than any other member in my family. This value it important because I am an example to younger generacion in my family so they can continue and finish their education.
Finally, I have gained so much knowledge and experience from my college education. This value is important because it has given me the confidence to suceed in the career of social work.

My college experience has been a amazing rollercoaster. As a college student your are obviously bound to have some struggles along the way but this hasn't stopped me to keep on with my studies as a fashion merchandise major. Without attending college I think i probably would've just been working at a regular clothing store making minimum wage struggling as a citizen. Knowing that I'm preparing myself for my future as an independent individual is scary but pretty amazing! This is why I believe attending college is important, because it'll bring marvelous opportunities for myself in my career. My name is Chelsea Almanzar and college will put me on the rising chair of fashion merchandise throughout the globe.

College has been such a value to me because in my family many people chose not to take that step to success instead they chose to just make it by. I feel accomplished just for making it this far when so many havent. College for me is a threshold and on the other side is tons of opportunities. My education to me is what will set me apart from all the other people in this world who have chosen other paths to walk in their lives. Because of college i have matured and grown into a more intelligent and functional classmate. I have been blessed in many ways but being able to experience an environment full of people trying to reach the same goals as me has truly made my journey worth while.

College is a way for my to discover who I am and build on that. It will allow me to do things things I want to do with my life: travel, write, serve people. I have discovered more about who I am and how I function with others. I would not have learned things had I not been placed in thie environment. I am challenged to improve.
