What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
There are a few things that I would tell myseld as a high school senior. I would tell myself to take school seriously. When I was in high school, I was all about having fun and hanging out with friends. I did not put as much thought into my work as I know I should have. Now that I'm in college I wish that I had focused and retained all that I learned back in high school. Taking those extra steps in high school like reading that extra book, looking up those extra words your didn't understand, staying home that night you had to finish homework, makes a difference for your future. You have your whole life to have fun and hang out with friends.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
Before i came to Seattle Central, i wish had been exposed to the practice of patience. I attended Wilberforce University in Xenia, Ohio before Seattle Central during my time there I would often make rash decisions never thinking about the consequences when it comes to my future. I made rash decisions regarding my academic future because I was young and truly didnot know what i wanted to do in the first place and secondly I was fully of myself and the talents I possess and believed I could adapt anywhere. Central has taught me to think more carefully and strategize.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
I wish someone told me that financial aid does not end with the fafsa! There are so many steps after that, that still keep the financial aid deadline 'clock' ticking. And if you're not careful you could end up paying more out of pocket than you would hope.

What's unique about your campus?
The best thing about my school is the instructors in the dental hygiene program. They work us hard and have high expectations for us because they want us to be successful. All of the instructors in the program that I know are nice, caring, and helpful. At the same time they are hard and have a zero tolerance policy which is great to me because as a student we need leaders that we respect and know how high our expectations are for them to succeed.

Why did you decide to go to this school?
Mostly to save money to get into university of Washington or Washington state. This is a great option if you plan on going to grad school afterwards. Way less debt. I have friends who are in their second year and are already in 8,000 to 10,000 dollars in debt while I still don't need any loans. If you are looking to save money this is a great option.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I brag to my friends that I spend half the amount on my education than they do at a four-year school, and the rigor of study is just as demanding. I also tell how easy it is to get to the camprus using public transportation, and the fun activities and shops around it. The real difference is the personal relationships you develop between you and the instructors, they really care about the class and how you are doing.
