Sauk Valley Community College REVIEWS

What's your overall opinion of Sauk Valley Community College?

7 Students rated Sauk Valley Community College

Marissa - 07/31/2024

I liked attending Sauk Valley Community College for its convenience and relatively low-cost tuition. I enjoyed most of my professors and had an overall positive experience there! Due to 100% of SVCC's population being commuter students, there is little student involvement with the exception of athletes. Students are more likely to go home or to work directly after class than participate in extracurriculars. There is a shortage of clubs at Sauk as well. The low class sizes sometimes result in canceling a class for the year/semester, which very negatively affects some students. The college provides great academic resources, including free tutoring which is an awesome feature. The facility is very clean and updated. There is a variety of healthcare opportunities at SVCC as well as trade opportunities.

It is a Wonderfull school and its is looked upon since it is an community school as well as it is cheap! it has most classes that are transferable to other universities and great staff!! I do highly recommend Sauk!! Many different opportunities and diversities to begin with, as well as being near home!

Caitlin - 10/30/2018

Sauk Valley Community College is a wondrous college, but only if you are going for a 2 year school. We do not have on-campus housing and the school is very small. I can only be here until I get my associates degree then I am going to a different college.

Ross - 10/02/2018

I love Sauk! There is so much to do, and the professors are absolutely amazing. It has that small school feel; however, there is so many opportunities for students to get involved in. Some people downgrade community college, but there is so much to do, some Universities can't even match.

I have no problem with SVCC as an educational facility. It has a good library and quite a few resources at their disposal. The stereotype for Sauk Valley Community College generally tends to be homegrown kids afraid to leave, and otherwise people who can't make it in a 4 year. For a few people in the school this is true, but for the most part I have came across intelligent students and a knowledgeable faculty.

  13. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

It is too similar to high school. You have the clicks going on pretty back here. I feel that due to this there is alot of tension with other students and their fear to fit in. That should be the last thing on a person't mind when they are pursuing their career, what others think of them.
