What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Well I have a unique perspective of senior year. I began dual enrollment at SJRCC as a junior in high shool, of which i was homeschooled. When I was a senior all my classes were college courses. I didn't really have an opportunity to know anything else besides that college enivironment since I didn't get to experience the typical public high school environment. My senior year i still went through some awkward transitions: growing up, finally becoming an "adult" (as if turning 18 makes me more grown-up somehow) and beginning to make mature, life-changing decisions about my future. If I could go back and give myself some kind of advice at the beginning of senior year it would have been this, "Ignore your severe case of 'senoritis'. Have fun but don't forget to take this seriously. What you do right now in these momets will affect your future goals, educations plans, and career."

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
My school is unique because of the closeness in the student body. Because it's a community college in a smaller town, most of the students have known each other for years. Everyone gets along, study groups and group projects are common. The atmosphere on campus is very friendly and positive.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
At St. Johns Community College, we have more students then parking spots. The worst this thing about my college is the size of the school. St. Johns is certainly an excellent choice for a college, but if your looking for an immeasurable size for a school, then St. Johns River community college is not for you.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
Everything is very nice; however one area I would complain about is the lack of campus housing/dorms. I want to experience the college life, but I also want to be close to home. I don't want to live at home but just be near it.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
My school is the most wonderful college I've attended so far because of everything it's about: racial diversity, involvement of all the students and teachers to helping each other to succeed, straight-forward academic cirriculum, positive school spirit, well-designed class etics, well informed teachers, lots of opportunities for seeking degrees and transferring to other colleges, and flexible class schedules.

What kind of person should attend this school?
The kind of person who should attend this school should have a real desire to learn and grow in the academic world. Plus anyone who needs a little help. Everyone I have been in contact with from the teachers to the office staff have been motivational and encouraging. Even if you are uncertain of what you want to do, it's a great place to start.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
The instructors are my favorite part of the school. Each professor is perfectly suited to his or her discipline. For the first time I really understand Algebra, I am on fire for math. The teaching methods have changed over the last 20 years, and become more student oriented and SJRSC reflects this change admirably. I tell everyone what a great program SJRSC has for undergraduate studies!
