I chose my school based on the very strong engineering program. Having one of the best engineering programs in the country, especially in the area of textiles made it an easy choice for me. Textile Engineering is a unique field that is not offered at many universities. This program is what really made NC State stand out from the other schools I considered.

I chose NC State because there is such a variety of life. There is so much going on and so many groups that you can always find your niche. It offers every spectrum of activities and opportunities.

Although my school is considered a research institution, a lot of other majors are well regarded and intergrate culturally diverse individuals. This diversity aspect creates a vast sense of community on campus and an opportunity for global knowledge of different cultures.

The main reason as to why I accepted NC State was because of the seemingly endless possibilities. The other schools I applied to had outstanding schools for science and medicine, my field of interest, but NC State is known for its location in the Research Triangle area. Here, I knew many research opportunities were available and close at hand in addition to a great educational program. Also, I was invited into their University Scholars Program, a cultural, leadership and study-abroad program that no other college I had applied to entailed.

NC State is a land grant university and the biggest university in North Carolina.

The thing that is unique about NC State compared to the other schools that I have considered going to is the fact that they have a very good meteorology department. Most of the other colleges did not have a good meteorology program. In fact, most of the other schools that I considered going to did not even have a meteorology department. I have always wanted to be a meteorologist since I was young. So, this was the closest school to where I live that had a great meteorology department.

This school not only provides a place for students to gain an excellent education, attend thrilling sporting events, and meet new people. It gives every student a family of encouraging peers, teachers, and mentors. Relationships made while at this school are lifelong and help people to grow into who they are to become.

NC State allows you to jump into your desired major immediately. Students can see if their desired major is a good fit, and if not they are able to change.

The varied amount of class subjects offered as well as the in -state tuition and scholarships interested me.

NC State focuses a lot on diversity. Due to the offering of over 100 majors, anyone can attend this college and feel welcomed in their field.
