I can't wait to get my BSN. I Love the campus and the Nursing Faculty. I am familiar with Newberry, Newberry Hospital, Lexington Medical Center where I will do my clinicals. I feel comfortable at Newberry College. I'm extremely excited for this new journey as a 48 year old going to college. I have raised my 4 daughters and have grandkids. I work full-time as a Nurse Tech II and love helping others. At Newberry College I will learn what it takes to become a Nurse and help in additionals ways. This is my dream to become a Nurse.

Newberry, is a different environment. It may seem normal and boring full of average college kids with no life. But other the horrific cafe food Newberry is really what you make it. It's really all about who you surround yourself with. If your surrounded with people who aren't just going to school just to do other things other than focusing on their future, you're going to have a great time every night because it so much free time outside of being a student-athlete. Regular students have it good but if your on the more focused side of a student you're going to have mixed emotions about Newberry. There are some nights you may feel hopeless from not wanting to have to use the restroom 10 mins after you eat the cafe so you just starve. Also from burning up all night because your air is broken or from burning out your chick fil a card so now you're forced to eat the cafe. Or just simply from too much school work and plus 95% percent of the time you're an athlete so you either have an easy practice or weights or even late practices and early classes. Either way it's an obstacle, but we're not going to downplay like that's all Newberry is about. Newberry's special in its own way. Sporting events wise, it's a movie dispite the college being so small the people and fans bring the energy every event doesn't matter the record. Basically cause it's nothing else in Newberry County to do. The nightlife, it's either a hit or miss but if it's a hit. I promise you it will be one of the best nights of your life. Welcome to Newberry.

Newberry College has extremely small class sizes, above average sports teams, and a sense of togetherness within. Students stay involved with extracurricular activities, along with campus interaction. The city of Newberry is surrounded by the college and the events on campus. Outsiders come frequently to support athletes and students alike.

Alexandrea - 10/11/2019

Great sports opportunities with a great involvement. Class sizes are small enough to get the information and help needed. Freshman dorms could be bigger and revamped. Cafeteria is bright and open with a good selection of food. The campus is very beautiful.

Newberry College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Newberry College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Newberry College is 59%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Be patient and take the time to truly get to know yourself. There are teachers out there who will bring you down no matter where you go. As long as you don't lower your standards and fall for their words of demise, you will find friends in places that you'd never believe. Don't be afraid to loose friends as well. By and by you'll figure out which ones are the best for your mind and soul. Also, it's OK to be by yourself. This allows you to get your thoughts in order and carefully contemplate your next move in life. Be patient and walk around campus. A sound mind creates a sound soul and this is something that is hard to keep as the years progress. Lastly, colors are your best friend. Use them to your full advantage. You will be surprised at how much more you can learn and remember. So, do your best, study hard, watch funny movies, play games, submit yourself to nature, and you'll do the things that only you can do. See you in the future!!!

  3. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

As I progress to the upper level classes the teachers give you more respect and freedom. Also if you show signs of hard work, they tend to be easier on you as they grade you tests. They automatically ask you to tutor people struggling in the same class as you and often give you words of praise and thanks both in and out of the classroom. Sometimes if they see you around campus they'll stop by and have a chat with you to make sure everything is going well.

  4. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about Newberry College I would say, is probably the dorms. It is not the "Worst" thing, it is the most frowned upon. The dorms have been the same since my father attended Newberry College back in the late '70s. The dorms are acceptable to live in, and for the most part if the students would take care of them, things would be better. The dorms are what you would expect from a small private college that has been around for a very long time. They are not brand new and classy like D1 Universites and Colleges.
