My opinion of MiraCosta College is that it is an all around great school. MiraCosta College is a community college meaning that although it provides excellent service it is not specialized in specific field of study. I would say it is an amazing starting point for aspiring young adults wanting to create a future for themselves!

Natasha - 05/25/2023

I have been going to MiraCosta since I was a freshman in high school, my first time going to the campus and meeting the staff and professors felt so warm and welcoming. I never felt judged and felt how strong the community at MiraCosta really is. I have yet to come across a professor who does not enjoy teaching. MiraCosta provides the tools needed in order for you to strive whether it is going to the STEM learning center in order to get more help or even providing feedback on a paper you need at the writing center. Overall if I had to describe MiraCosta I would say it is a safe and loving family.

Jennifer - 08/16/2021

Overall, I think this is a great college to go to. I loved almost all my professors, but one thing for sure, they were almost always available or very easy to get in touch with. Lots of flexibility and very encouraging too! Classes arent huge-around 20-27 max. I am very glad to have come here to figure out what I field I really want to go into.

Narumi - 11/12/2020

People there are very supportive and kind friendly so I always get helped by them. As an international student, there are some problems and misunderstandings at school and living in the US. But they tell us what we must do as non-resident such as paperwork, Visa work, and how we can comfortable stay at this school. I do not know if other college do this but they teach us important things and I am really glad I chose here.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Growing up in the home that I did, with the constant burden of finances, college seemed like a dream that would never come true. With mediocre grades and no true path to follow for school, my senior year was practically hopeless. I knew I could never afford to attend a university. So for my senior year I strove for nothing. Following graduation as I made plans to head to China to work with orphans, the daunting task of registration for a junior college overwhelmed me. I knew I needed to do something. So I registered with Mira Costa. It has changed me, it truly has. Attending Mira Costa has changed my entire outlook on life. My once empty aspirations are now filled with hope. There is a light at the end of this tunnel. I am so close to achieving my goal and I will be the first from my family to graduate from college. If I were to go back and give advice to myself as a senior I would tell myself that there is hope and I need to strive and seek after it. To never give up cause the best things in life are worth fighting for.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The one thing wrong with my school is that it is small. It doesn't offer many classes other than the basics you need for your general education. There are no zoology courses, but there are many general sciences such as biology, chemistry, anatomy..etc.

I would recommend this school to every kind of person. With its extensive lawns of green grass, more introverted students have plenty of space to relax independently, away from noise and crowds. MiraCosta satisfies people seeking social opportunities with all of its efforts to involve the student body and bring people together. The library houses numerous computers and study spaces for all students to focus on school work, and tutors and writing consultants are available for anyone.

  6. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

If I were to brag about my school, I would first of all tell someone that the professors are awesome. They genuinely still seem like they love their jobs and truly want the students to learn. The campus is also very quiet and clean. It offers a friendly, comfortable, small town feel. I think this is very important, because campuses can be overwhelming. This school also seems to have some decent funding, because there are numerous resources for students that are extremely helpful. Finally, they have a fairly wide range of classes and times which helps for working students.

The constant interaction with students of all ages and backgrounds is one of the reasons I truly enjoy community college. The fact that I attend a community college means that it is more diverse in the aspect of age. I am also able to meet people that live in the same area that I grew up in. 13. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

It is a commuter school, so finding school spirit from the students is more challenging. I wish there were more students on campus throughout the day as well, as opposed to most students coming on campus in the morning through noon. Most students have an off campus job, so they cannot stay on campus as long as others. This limits the time some students can have socializing with other students, but it is convenient in the fact that the school offers many classes on each campus throughout the week so that students can attend their jobs.
