What do you consider the worst thing about Knox College? Why?

Nicole

The worst thing about my school is the "rumor mill" that starts because of the small population of under 2,000 students.

nicholas

The 3 term system puts me home when my friends are still at school. I wish the breaks were at a different time, more consistent with other schools.

Alexandra

I think that Knox's weak points are the lack of air-conditioning in housing, the lack of diversity amongst the faculty, and the lack of students/faculty with more moderate views. I believe that Knox can possibly become too liberal and intolerant of conservative viewpoints on campus. This is an issue that many alumni have brought to the school's attention. Also, there are very few minority professors on campus. If Knox truly wants to be diverse, then they should be more open to finding qualified professors from various backgrounds.

It's recruiting too many freshmen...

Olivia

I think the campus is too apathetic. There is a distinct divide between the "hippie" kids and the "frat/sporty" kids, and I wish that instead, we were all active and passionate together.

The worst part about my school was the athletic department. During season, your coach owns you and you must abide by the team rules even though this is a D3 school. It was miserable during season. Don't get me wrong, I love sports but this was a little too intense for the team that I played for.

John

It is quite possible to feel fairly isolated at Knox, although it is two hours from Chicago, students get most of their services from the school itself, and, as a result, can completly ignore Galesburg. I think the one thing Knox could do to improve itself greatly is to better relations with Galesburg.

Lavinia

Some times the work load feels unmanagable, but that is mostly a function of my chosen major/minor combination (math and bio) and the fact that I transferred in and have very few choices when picking my classes in order to graduate on time. This is less of a problem for those who have been here all four years.

Bryce

The worst thing about my school is that, because it is a small school, relatively speaking, it is difficult for them to offer everything for everyone. Often, students will create their own major because the one they want is not offered.

Lack of school spirit. We're a Division III school and are surrounded by Big 10 or other Division I schools (U of I, Iowa, Northwestern, etc.) so it's discouraging when our sports teams, specifically the football team does consistently poorly.
