When you are deciding what college or university to attend after high school make sure you visit any that interest you before deciding. Choose the one that feels right. To make the most of your college experience I would say don't spend all your time inside worrying about your school work. You need to make sure that you have fun. If you don't have any fun then it is going to be the most boring four years of your life.

I believe that you should put your son/daughter into a dorm the first year to get used to the life on the campus. This way shows how it will be living away from home and get to know the campus and fit into the right crowds.

Finding a college or university isn't about how good their football team is, or if they have a lot of parties, or even if they're offering you a full ride scholarship. Finding the right college or university is about finding a school that you will feel welcome in, if you like big schools by all means check out the big universities. However, if you like a small town type of school that's the type of school you should look for. When I was searching for a school I made sure that it was close to home so it was an easy commute. I made sure the school wasn't too big, I prefer smaller class sizes so you can get one on one time with your professor. It's little details like that, that you should look for when starting the grand journey of finding the right college or university for you.

Prospective students should make a list of qualities and characteristics they would like to find in a school, starting with their major area of study. This list should include what their expectations are for a school, what activities they are interested in, the demographics of the school and area, and how qualified the proffessors are at the school. If varsity sports are an interest, DO NOT LET THEM TAKE PRECIDENCE OVER ACADEMICS. Make sure you are researching a school for the right reasons.

I would say to find a college that fits your needs, for example, money, the place, and if that college had your major. I choose the best college for my major. Making the most of the college experience would be up to the student and what the student likes. If he/she want to go away, live on campus, that would be a good college experience. If they do not live on campus, try to get involved, clubs, sports, and go to events. Don't be shy, talk to classmates, make friends, and also talk to your professors. The more questions you ask about the college the more you know, which is a very good thing. Try to get a job on campus, you can meet people that way, and make some money. Just understanding your college will help so much more with the college experience.

I would advise students and parents to really visit the school and determine where the new student will feel most comfortable. Even though a school may be close to home, the student can still live away while saving money on in-state tuition. A good education does not have to cost $100,000. Find the college that will give you support, opportunities, and happiness and that is the right decision. To make the most of your college experience you must be open minded and ready to try new learning styles while meeting people from many different backgrounds. An open mind and a dream are all you need to succeed.

My advice for students: make a shopping list of the universities that you may be interested in, see what they have to offer, word of mouth is an excellent resource. start the college search early, don't settle! once you found "the one,"make sure you know what you want to major in. it will take a huge load off of your shoulders. once you have figured out what you want to study, get a course or major guide sheet. Take harder classes during your first two years, trust me you have the most time on your hands when you are a freshman, so utilize it wisely. try to get an internship relating to your field of study, it will give you needed experience, and posssibly a higher paying salary upon graduation. For parents, don't force your child into choosing a university, and let them figure out what they want to study before sending them off to college. it will save you both time, heartache, and money. if i could have waited a few years before starting college, it would have done me justice. who said you must start college as soon as you graduate highschool anyway? exactly.

Wow! Hold on to ur socks because college will be a completely new and hard ground to tread. I thought that college would be easy because I never really had to try hard for good grades in school, but I was completely wrong and so naive. The biggest problem anyone could have with college would be the tuition and managing finances. If you or your parent is an accountant then thank the heavens for that, but if not make sure you pay close attention to how you choose to pay for your tuition. Someone once told me to never get a student loan, but unfortunately that was my only choice because unlike the prepared students I slacked off and waited for my parents to do it for me. Make sure you look into all other forms of tuition help before loans and even if you need a loan at least make sure you take care of your debt! College won't be easy, if it was they wouldn't call it college. To the student keep pushing for your dreams and always thank your parents, and to the parents, appreciate your child and let them know how proud you are.
