My opinion on Jefferson State Community College is that it is a good environment and a great campus for students to learn; and I went to the bookstore on campus a couple of times and they are very organized with the gear, books, pencils, binders, food, and snacks. They also have good professors and good directions to get to classes, they also do extracurricular activities like recently they had a dance at the Jefferson State Campus in Hoover Shelby County. I would really recommend students after their senior year to go Jeff State because it is less expensive and they also have different tutoring stations like online or in person. Also the campus itself have security around the entire campus so you’ll be safe from any harm; also with tutoring it’s honestly better at a 2-year college than a university because the classrooms are a lot bigger and a lot more students and might not get a lot of help you are struggling in classes. Jeff State you can have all the help you need because it’s not a lot of students and you can get help much faster. With the classes at Jeff State they are good classes they teach many things; if you do online classes you can get the help from the professors online by email or text instead of having to drive on campus to ask for help. So my overall view on the campus is 5/5 stars because it is a great facility and low-level type of campus nothing too much, and you still get the great education that’s necessary.

Jeff state is a warm welcoming environment for people of all ages. It does not discriminate and is truly there to help their students succeed. We have a diverse population that truly just inspires and encourages anyone that anything is possible, regardless of your age. The teachers and staff are always available and so helpful, inside and outside of class. I am confident that I made the right decision to continue my education through them!

I haven’t been to campus myself due to COVID, but I do admire how Jefferson State cares more about everyone’s health by shifting to online classes. It can be a bit hard to grasp learning material, but the teachers are always willing to help! Overall, self motivation is needed especially right now.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a senior I would tell myself to reall relax about college. Teachers have toled me all my life that college is almost impossiable to get into. This had caused me to worrrie that I mite not beable to attend because of my parents income being very low. I would tell myself that it will all turn out fine. There is all ways a way to attend college if a person really wants to. Also I would tell myself yes, college is very challanging, but don't worrie you will have more time to complete my assigments and will be pushed to become a great student. Finally I would tell myself that I will enjoy the experiance of meeting new friends at college. Since I came from a high school of about 500 students I knew everyone, but now at college I have pleanty of people to meet and learn from.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about Jefferson State is that it isn't a four year college. If it was a four year school I could afford to attend it because it is very close to my home. Since it is not I will need to transfer to another college and most likly have to move closer so I can afford to pay for my education.
