Flagler College-St Augustine Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about Flagler College-St Augustine? Why?

Sara

The only thing that I wish was slightly different about the school is the size. While an intimate setting is desirable, having a larger student body and in turn a larger campus area would allow for easier parking. Also some of the classrooms look a bit sterile, so sprucing those up would be a nice addition.

Flagler College is located in St. Augustine, FL - a very busy tourist town due to its historical significance. While the history of this city is fascinating and there is always something to do and many jobs available due to tourism business, the amount of traffic, tourists and overall business of such a small city can sometimes be overwhelming.

On campus housing was not very good. It was nice being in the middle of campus and not having to worry too much about parking, but if you don't have a car, there isn't much within walking distance (such as grocery stores), but usually you could find a friend to take you. There is not regular bus service in the city which I didn't like. Also the dorms do not allow males to enter the female dorms and vice versa. The dining hall food wasn't good either, and their hours were bad.

Patricia

The sign up process was horrible.

The worst thing about my school, Flagler College, was that it started construction within months of me being there and coming from my high school, where they were doing construction my senior year, I really did not enjoy having to deal with more construction. The school has expanded a great deal in recent years and that is what brought about the construction; however, I believe most has been completed at this point.

No inter-dorm visitation because when it comes time to do projects its hard to meet as a group if there are males. Since boys aren't allowed in girls dorms (vice versa) you have to do all the work during library hours and they aren't always open.

Anne

There was no one at the school on weekends. No administrators, faculty or other staff were there if you had a problem, nor were there any staff in the campus doctor's office over the weekend. There was no other doctor nearby if you didn't have access to transportation.

Lia

Not much to do outside of class.

I would say that the worst thing about our school is the communication between the different departments in our school. I was working out the details for a study abroad semester and I was tossed back and forth between offices so that I could accomplish one simple task. Granite, they have gotten a lot better with communicating between the offices but it is still one of my greatest frustations.

I think that Flagler has a lot of problems that arise from its size. I feel that it is just like high school and because of that there is a lot of unnecessary drama and medalling that goes on.
