What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
knowing what i know now, i would have convinced myself to continue with school after high school. not only that i would of focused more on the time i had in high school, thats where it began. if i would have just kept up in class i wouldnt have to do have of my senor year again. hey, you live and you learn. the time i spent working making money, could have been spent on my career, learning and graduating, maybe even getting double what i earn now. education is the key to jobs, money and a knowing of how to maintain health to prosper. if one is not educated, its like being able to speak but you dont, what good is it that u have a mouth if nothing productive is let out.

The school is undergoing heavy construction, making the campus a little difficult to navigate through. However, the campus is relatively small and it offers free shuttle services in between classes. Other than that, the campus is a delight.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about the school right now is that the campus is going under construction!!! it totally sucks because the classrooms are being moved from time to time and there is no subject that has a permanent classroom. There are always loud noises during class time which bother any student while they are trying to focus. Also the budget cuts are extremely bad! less classrooms and all semesters get filled up really quicker than usual because there arent enough hired proffesors.

The thing i brag about to my friends is the fact that i was still given the chance to proper and grow after the time that has already passed me by. I dont emphysize enough that school is for all ages not just high school grads(17-19). The best part is that its free thanks to me being the first generation attending college from my family.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
One of the best things about this school is the location. It's in Monterey Park so its close to East LA, Alhambra, LA, etc. It's also right near Atlantic square which contains alot of shops and a market. In all honestly, however the faculty is the best of the best. I've had many professors and I can only say 2 had no business teaching, and thats not a bad rate. Mainly, you get excellent professors that treat you with respect, so far. I only have a couple semesters left before I transfer and I can say that overall, I have had a great experience. The tuition isn't all that bad (even though it IS rising). Also, the counseling is pretty great. In the beginning I went to one woman and she was one of those who just rushed me out of her office and didnt help me at all, which was discouraging, however when I switched counselors (and I'm very glad I did) he has been nothing but helpful and patient. The campus is also nice. BUT the bad part of this school is registration. Good luck new students on getting classes, its really, really difficult due to overcrowding. Its also very difficult to add the day of, you may get lucky though as I did last fall.

What are the academics like at your school?
Academics are pretty decent. Professors remember your name IF you show up to class, it never fails that the class looks empty except for test days. Remember that most of the professors here take attendance into consideration when getting final grades together, its a major factor really. My favorite classes have been Broadcasting 1 (I had an excellent Professor), and Law 1 (another great Professor). My major is English however I can honestly say I didn’t have the greatest teachers when it came to this subject, however I’m sure that will change next semester when I get more into mythology and all that good stuff, hopefully. Also, the math teachers here are pretty great. There are a mix of students study wise. I, for example study my booty off because I want to transfer to a good university, however I have been in study groups where students could care less about anything school related. Overall, it’s a mixed bag. I hear that the occupational programs here are decent, however I’m receiving an AA and transferring so I cannot fairly speak on that subject.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
Its East LA, so many believe that its nothing but liberal Mexicans, but thats not 100{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} factual. The campus is pretty diverse. It contains asians, whites, blacks, and yes, hispanic/latinos. I'm sure that hispanics make up the majority, however its not over powering or anything like that. You also get a mix of different beliefs, cultures and overall, the students here are nice, except on the 1st day of school. Parking is pretty ruthless.
