At first I didn't like it because I had a hard time making friends but once I did I really started enjoying it! Most people in the area know its a good school and know it is one of the few schools in the country with a co-op program. I also really like the co-op program because it allows me to get experience and connections that other students might not get going to a non co-op school.

Drexel is alright. Its campus is in west-center city Philadelphia so it meshes in as the city and is not its own college town. Campus is constantly under construction, which detracts from a positive appearance and sometimes even makes it harder to get to class. The campus is small compared with University of Penn which is only 2 blocks away. Drexel's bookstore is also a joke compared to U Penn's, so most students tend to walk the extra blocks when purchasing books. There's not much to do on campus - get drunk at a friend's house, get drunk at a frat house, get drunk at bars, eat food somewhere, or go to the library or the Starbucks for coffee. It can make you feel bad if you decide to live and stay on campus your entire 4 or 5 years. Buy a bike and take trips off campus. You'll be amazed at where a 10 or 15 minute bike ride will take you. I could list a million places to go, but that would take to long. You may have to twist the arm of Drexel's administration to get what you want - send 4 or 5 emails, call them, and show up at whoever's office you want to get a hold of. People will mention the 'Drexel Shaft' meaning that the administration will screw you. I always found them to be flexible after you hunt them down. There is no school pride that I experienced, except once a year at Drexel's basketball pep rally. Even that was kind of a joke. You'll feel closer with college students, but you won't have any kind of connection in particular with anything Drexel. Drexel offers decent classes, but a non-traditional college experience. If you go here, get off campus and meet non-Drexel students and explore what Philadelphia has to offer. 9 out of 10 students will live their lives on campus and never leave. Be active!

I couldn't have asked for a better college experience and am really happy that I picked Drexel. The best thing about this school for me was the co-op program. Getting real work experience worked into your time at college is something that you don't find many other places. Drexel gives you great opportunities to make connections and network so that you will have a job at graduation. Aside from academics I LOVE being right in the city. Everything is a subway/cab ride away, and Philadelphia has a lot to offer. I moved here from Pittsburgh, so for anyone looking to come from a bit farther away, I promise you will love everything about this city. We are so close to NYC and the beach, there is always somewhere to go and something to do.
Drexel is a great place to go to school, but I do have to say it does fit some of the stereotypes when it comes to the workload. To succeed here you really need to work like crazy, and there is a lot of competition. Professors don't give out A's for mediocre work, you really need to give it your all. Also, only having your first summer off may sound intimidating, but in the end it will be worth it. By the time you get into your sophomore and junior years most people want to spend their summers doing internships anyways. With the co-op program you get that built in! Besides, as I said, you can head to the beach on the weekends!

I have really enjoyed my last three and a half years at Drexel. I think that the administrative staff works very hard to make sure that the students have opportunities for research, leadership involvement, and personal growth. I will say it is an institution that you will only excel at if you are driven and confident enough to advocate for yourself. For example, if you dont think you received enough financial aid appeal it.
If i could change something about drexel it would be the lack of diverse campus activities. It is difficult to become involved or meet other students after your freshman year. I joined multiple organizations and moved back on campus last year to become more involved in university life.
I have found the coop experience to be very valuable. I never had a full time job in high school so when i came to college and after 6 months of school i was working full time i was extremely overwhelmed. I have learned the importance of responsibility and accountability through my last three coops. It is also a great professional networking experience. I am a nursing major and on my first coop I worked at The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, my second and third were at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. When i graduate i may have the opportunity to work at one of these places provided they are hiring, or at least ill have three valuable references.
Most students complain about the administration. Personally, i think that students feel this way because it is such a large school it is difficult to feel connected to the administration. Additionally it is a city school, so we dont see our advisors and teachers walking around campus all the time. As i was saying earlier i believe that if you advocate for yourself you wont have any issues with the administration.
Overall i think it is a great school for independent motivated indivuidals.

Overall, I am very happy that I am attending Drexel University. Drexel is based on a quarter system, where classes run on a ten-week period. The fast pace of classes forces students to work very hard, and as a result, they take their coursework seriously and retain what they learn. Although it may not be the most exciting University to attend, it is a very respectful University. People always respond positively when you tell them that you attend Drexel, especially if you are majoring in engineering.
I spend most of my time in the classroom, meeting with professors, or studying, which includes completing homework assignments or studying for an exam. I would say that school takes up about 60-70{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of my free time. During the remaining free time, I might go to the recreational center to exercise, grab a meal, or hang out with friends. If you manage your time, Drexel will challenge you to learn, but still offers time to relax and enjoy your college experience.
Drexel probably doesn’t have the prettiest campus. The classrooms aren't extravagant, but they are practical. It is a very competitive University that wants to grow and succeed. This mentality translates into a very challenging University experience that makes Drexel worth the consideration.

One of my favorite things about Drexel is the location. It is only minutes away from center city, two hours from New York City, hour from the beach, two hours from the mountains and it is so easy to get around.
Also, it is evident that Drexel is growing for the better. There are more and more incoming freshman and transfer student every year. And there are so many new buildings and additions to the university than when I started as a freshman.
The size of Drexel is just right. It is big enough that you don't know everyone but small enough that the classes are a good size and you can really get to know your professors.
Whenever I tell people that I attend Drexel, they seem very impressed.

My favorite thing about Drexel is it's proximity to the city. You can take the shuttle for free, about a 10 minute drive, into center city, or walk, about 15 minutes, to get to center city. We are rebuilding everything about Drexel, and each year there are new fun things to explore!
