What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
When looking for the right college, don't settle. Find one that has your desired academic major, is of a comfortable size for you, has a good curriculum, and has a variety of extra-curricular activities that interest you. To make the most of your college experience, try your best. Study often and as much as you need to, but allow yourself to have a social life. Interact with other students to make friends. Don't fall into the habit of wasting the weekends away with parties and alcohol. Keep your goals, morals, and beliefs in mind; don't let anyone push you past your boundaries. Take this time to discover who you are and what you want out of life. Use the opportunity to experience being out on your own. Try to exercise regularly and eat healthy to avoid illness and depression. Don't isolate yourself. Be involved with your campus; attend school events and have fun. Have a sense of pride in who you are, and the school you attend. Having pride in your school will give you a more positive college experience. College is your time to experience life; enjoy it, don't waste it.

The type of individual who should reconsider the decison to attend Defiance College is the person who feels as though he or she does not need to give effort to achieve a above average grade. Defiance College provides a wonderful faculty, excellent resources for studying, as well as helpful (and knowlagable) tutors to aid in achieving the student's desired grade. If a student does not wish to utilize these resources readily given, if needed, than this individual should reconsider his or her choice of college.

What's unique about your campus?
I would have to give all of the credit to my professors as "the best thing about [my] school". Every professor gives his or her all in teaching; they make class interesting as well as exciting to attend. I am a single mother of a two year old so, I know first hand how hard it is sometimes to juggle being both a full-time student as well as being a full-time mother. The professors understand the difficulty and, without distracting from the material or coursework, they help me succeed within the classroom as well as in my degree.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
I would have to say the most frustrating thing about my school is the cost to attend. The cost of tution is quite costly which causes me to be concerned financially. Also, it would be nice if the food in the cafeteria was healthy and somewhat appetizing. There is no variety either which is very disappointing.

What are the academics like at your school?
The academics for the School of Business at Dean have been great. The technology, communication, managerial, and even (my least favorite) the math classes; have come together in a way that they really make sense and somehow in the end they always connect back together rienforcing the most important concepts. My classes have been small, and i have great personal and academic relationships with each of my professors, some who have impacted my life in a very influential way. I am very excited that I will be walking at Commencement in May, but I am also sad (a little bit) that I will be finished here, learning with the great faculty and classes that Dean has offered me for the past four years.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
Asof right now I am a senior at Dean. The college has only continued to grow and from my opinion improve at an extremely rapid rate. I love the small clases and individualized attention that the students recieve at Dean. Right now I have noticed class sizes growing and this is because the college is hiring more faculty as fast as they can bt this process takes a little bit because I know that Dean is trying to hire the best professors that will fit for this school and it's students. This means that for a little while I might have to deal with a slightly greater than normal class size until the college hires more professors to adjust to the quickly growing student body.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
At Dean, there are no real common stereo-types. Our sports "jocks" are very hardworking (and for the most part humble) students on campus. Sometimes the only time I see them is in class and then usually they are busy with games and practices. The other bigger group of people at Dean are all the students who are dancers or in the arts programs. They take many classes together and are also very busy students on campus, so they often tend to stick together. The great thing about Dean College is that we are a small campus and yet have a very diverse student body. We have an interesting community because we have students that come from many different walks of life, and this allows the students to learn about eachother and come to appreciate eachothers differences.
