Most of my prof. so know my name. My favorite class was Pysh, learned a ton of stuff about sleeping patterns and diseases. Least favorite was one about home mortgages, enough said. Students study pretty regularly, especially in the beginning of the week. Some class participation is very common. There are often discussions of politics and of things happening in the world outside of college, so yes. Some students are competitive, but the majority are concerned with their own grades. The most unique class was astronomy lab, looking up at the stars for 3 hours was awesome. My major is very straight forward, and is one of the largest on campus. It requires classes of every business type, which is good to have knowledge in when entering the business world. I personally dont spend a ton of time with prof. but I know many who do. The academic requirements are challenging, and should be. I feel like the general ed. requirements is for learning but my business adm. degree is focused on getting a job.

Some professors know names, but most do not know names. Just recently do alot of professor know my name, because a new system that was put into place. I think that this system required or suggested that professors look at students pictures and learned names.

Like I said before, professors do know my name and are always willing to help even after I finish their course. My favorite class was Economics. I enjoyed my professor a lot. He explained the material well and wanted everyone of his students to learn and succeed in his class. My least favorite was a Psychology class because my professor just read off of her powerpoint that she made from the textbook. It would have been easier to teach myself than go to class. The library is always full so I would assume students study a good deal. During class, there is a good deal of participation. My major is Business with a concentration in Leadership, Change and Social Responsiblity. I love the professors because they not only teach textbook theories, but also apply it to the real business world.

Yes most of my professors know my name. My favorite class is business communications because the subject is interesting and taught in a fun and interesting manner. My least favorite is communication research methods because the discussion topics can become boring quick. Students study a good bit. Class participation is common and I think in certain places and with certain people cofc students have intellectual conversations outside of class. Students are competitive and I haven't really taken a unique class yet. I think cofc's academic requirements are really good and it is a hard school to get into and the standards are still on the rise. The education is geared towards getting a job and furthering yourself.

Yes, professors know names. they even make an effort to get to know you. My favorite class is psychology. my professor makes it so much fun and is really enthusiastic about teaching. My least favorite class is spanish. I actually really enjoy spanish and im really good at it but the professor is just so bitter towards the world and didn't enjoy teaching so it wasn't interesting. I personally study ALOT. I spend a ton of time in the library. The majority of the students study maybe once a week. charleston is known for partying. class participation is a huge part of your grade in most classes because the class sizes are so small. my biggest class was a bio lecture of about 60 students. students DO NOT have intellectual conversation outside of class. I am in the honors fraternity and yeah there are some nerds but nothing too intellectually stimulating. Students are NOT competitive. The academic requirements are really easy to fulfill minus the 12 humanity credits you have to fill, except i believe they are lowering them in the next few years. i think professors just care about you being knowledgeable, not necessarily in the work world.

Most professors are great about knowing everyone's names! The comm. dept. is GREAT! All of my professors are willing to help and are friendly. Econ was my least fav. class! It royally kicked my ass! Class participation just depends on the class. Most of the academic requirements are ok...12 hours of a foreign language suck though unless you are into that sort of thing. I did really well in all of them though. CofC def. wants to prepare you for the real world after school.

Once again, due to the size of the classes, my professors always know my name. My favorite class, thus far, has been a german special topics class; however, out of 79 credit hours, I've only disliked one class (Biology 101-Professor Massie).
Class participation is crucial in the classes at C of C. Professors want us to discuss everything and anything. They want students to engage in conversation and to bring different, current ideas into the class material (as long as it's related).

Most of my professors do know my name. One great thing about CofC is that the class sizes are small, very much comparable to what you experience in a high school. One of my favorite classes was a yoga class that I just took for fun, it ended up being a great stress reliever in a busy semester. Class participation is not only common, but pretty much demanded by the professors. Students here are very competitive, and I feel that CofC's academic requirements are very reasonable. CofC is definitely geared towards its students getting a job upon graduation, the career center is very helpful.
