What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
The two things I would tell my high school senior self would be: 1. take more AP courses and 2. try not to go crazy freshman year. What most high school seniors don't realize is that they have a great advantage by being able to take AP courses during highschool because it is significanly less expensive than taking courses at a university or college. I myself took 3 AP courses my senior year, but did not even bother to study for the exams because I knew I was already accepted into a university. I didn't see the AP exams as an opportunity to save money and to earn college credit. Also, college obviously offers more freedom than high school and unfortunately for me, I got caught up in the freedom and forgot the real reason I was in college, to get an education and not to party. I can't go back in time and tell myself what I know now, but I can take this wisdom and apply it to future situations.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
It is such a friendly and cozy environment. The school is almost like a breath of fresh air :). I enjoy the nature aspect very much. Other school I considered did not feel like home. They felt more like a place to visit, but not necessarily attend. With fountains, ducks, and a calming environment, CSU Stanislaus is just wonderful :)

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
What I like most about CSU Stanislaus is the faculty and staff of the administration. They are every helpful, especially when you have a problem or a conern. The staff goes the extra mile and tries their best to help solve your problem. Moreso, the advisors are very supportive. They build an understanding relationship with the student.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
Other than the usual frustrations that most students go through while attending school such as assignment deadlines or financial issues, I would have to say, personally, that the most frustrating thing about CSU-Stanislaus is the duck feces that crowd the campus walkways. Who wants to worry about stepping in duck poo while walking to class? About every weekend the walkways are cleaned, but it doesn't seem to be enough-they should be cleaned during the week as well. Other than that being my biggest pet peeve against the school, I find the university overall as exceptional.

What's unique about your campus?
I should have saved part of my previous statement for this section. However, I cannot stress enough how much communication and support the faculty has kept with me, both in undrgraduate and graduate education. I am very grateful communication between faculty is encouraged, as it has groomed me to be a better student and communicator.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about my school is that it is a very small community. There are not many options in the town of Turlock of fun things to do. Usually if you want to have fun, you have to drive to the town of Modesto and do something there which it still is not that great.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I would have known the different career options that were available for me. I wish that there would have been more career fairs and perhaps a career center to help me find a job after I received my B.A. It would have been nice to have previous successful Stan State students come and explain their road and how they got there. Having more internships available would have been helpful, a more hands on environment to really decide what you want to focus on in school.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
This school it AWESOME!! It is a small school and you are able to get in touch with a lot of the things it has to offer. There may not be very many club options but with the clubs we do have we are able to see what they do and know a lot about them. Our school also has amazing dalily and weekly programs and activities to get the students envolved. They give out tons of free stuff and they promote school pride. Turlock isn't much of a college town but its nice because we have lots of schools near by. You can get Starbucks, burgers, pizza, ice cream, frozen yogurt, Wing Stop, ect in walking distance.

What are the academics like at your school?
In every class I've had since my freshman year my professor has known my name. Class rooms have no more than thirty students which helps create I personal relationship with the instructor and fellow students. My favorite class has been my human anatomy class. It was probably the toughest class i have taken but my professor spent many out of class hours to help me understand the material. I really learned a lot about my study habits that semester. You can see our students studying everywhere on campus. They will be in the library, Warrior Grill, Carol Bruke Lounge, the grass, main dining, or student union. A lot of colleges also offer internships which makes finding a job after college more excessable.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The University Student Union Program Board, ASI Warrior Squad, and ASI Warrior Fanatics have the most impact on this campus. They plan events like Homecoming, Warrior Day, Lecture Serious, Social Awareness events, the Drag Show, pep rallies, and so on. I have been involved with both these groups since my freshman year and if it wasn't for them my college experience would not be as great as it is. I event met my current roommate there and we have been great friends and roommates ever since. Sororities and Frats play a big part on campus. Many students who want to be involved are in orgs. They put on many events and you can always see them at school functions like sports games or daily activities. Our school offerens trips on the weekends at a discounted price. This is great for the students who dont like to part or are not familiar with the area.
