I attended Bridgewater State University for 4 years. I had two majors and a minor. It was easy to add my minor after my freshman year. Academic advisors are supportive and help walk you through what classes to take. There are plenty of clubs and groups to join including Greek life.

Bridgewater State University is a great school with a very diverse community. The other department could use some more funding but overall all programs are taken very seriously and professors are kind. It’s a very safe campus with lots of things surrounding.

DON'T GO HERE. PLEASE AVOID. This school is a pathetic excuse for a university. The people do not care about their education and are either on welfare or daddy is paying the bill. It's not a respected school and unless you plan on going to a great grad school you will not get a paying job. The school has done nothing for students careers, I've been to career services multiple times and left with the same info I walked in with. RES LIFE IS HORRIBLE. The students do not respect the dorms, I've never even seen any RA's, and things are constantly being destroyed by other people and you have to pay for the damage even if you know who it is. I had a horrible roommate my first semester and I had to go to reslife every single day and they still did nothing. After ruining my family's winter break with this problem looming over us, I got a room change and I got a horrible suitemate who did nothing but smoke and constantly have people over who used the things myself and the other person bought. The school just wants more money and so do the professors, they just show up for their paychecks. Save your money and sanity, please don't come to BSU.

Bridgewater State University is a great less expensive option for students. However, if you plan to go to a graduates program BSU’s education is looked down upon, making it difficult to get into most higher level education colleges. The campus is nice, with many stores and places to eat near by. They offer different transportation options such as the train, bus, and shuttle. The school is very diverse with professors of different ethnicities as well as students from all different backgrounds. Lastly, the classes are fair and you can adapt your schedule to your life whether you have work, kids, or just like your schedule to be a certain way there are many different time slots of classes.

    There is nothing wrong about Bridgewater State College academically, but being a commuter, there are not enough commuter parking lots available to the students, for it being a largely commuter based school.

    Any person that wants a degree that isn't for teaching. The teaching program here is great, but all the other programs are left behind. Definitely do not come here if you are an art or music major.

  8. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

    I brag about how small our class sizes are. I enjoy being able to have class discussions and not big lectures. The professors here are very personable and help you with everything that you need. I feel as if they look at each student individually, and not as a number like they would at large universities.

    The most frustrating thing about the school that I attend is when all my professors assign tests and papers at the same time. It gets pretty stressful.

    I wish I had taken less science courses during the first semester as I had been out of school for a long time. I also wasn't initially very comfortable going to the achievement center to ask for help. I should have focused on a math course with some basic electives for the first semester until I became more comfortable with the requirments of the classes.

    Well it is a good stereotype ( if there are any good ones). My school is considered as one of the best schools that train teachers in general. Therefore, many students are Education majors ( early childhood, secondary Ed, special ed etc.) so when a student meets someone who is not an education major it is pretty surprising.

    The most popular activities are open poetry nights, off campus events and socials, on campus dances, the Multicultural organizations and LGBT groups as well

    Classes are small and professors take time to get to know you. Many of them take time to help you. Most of the teachers I had care about what they do and about their students. One of my teachers even introduced me to another teacher that literally saved my academic career countless times.

    Big Sociology fan as well as LGBT studies. So Really any Social Science classes are recommended because you are not only learning on an educational basis but on a social/ moral basis as well. Internally you grow ass a more conscious individual.

In saying that if you express care for your academics and come to office hours as well as communicate with them, they assist as much as they professionally can. They assist those who are not afraid to say they need guidance.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
