What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
College life is an experience that does everything except mirror the highschool scene. The students who attend college have their own business and problems to focus on, their own academics to tend to, and do not seem to become entangled in the affairs of others, which is a recognizeable behavior in high school students. I would tell my high school self to remain focused on my studies, my extracurricular activities, and my personal relationships with the people that actually affect my life because the petty instances that often set back high school students will be a thing of the past in college. The negativity and discouraging situations with peers that are presented in high school seem to fade when you make the transition to college, and instead of sweating over where to sit in the cafeteria, rest assured that in college you can establish yourself among a variety of personalities, and feel welcomed in whichever environment you place yourself in. Bringing a positive and open minded persona to college is something you should not neglect to pack up with your material possessions, as demonstrating the ability to integrate into various, unfamiliar circumstances in college is going to be very advantageous!

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
That the food service had such a poor budget and poor planning. The food was very good for what they had available to them, but as a person with dietary issues, they weren't great at accomdating for it unless it would lead to a medical emergency.
Also, to make sure you really have all your stuff in order before commencement because they don't figure everything out until you're gone, and you need to keep up with them. I had an issue with credits and they didn't contact me, I had to contact them about it.

The best thing about my school is that they see how smart you are and they strive to do whatever they can to encourage your confidence in that. My school is an advocate for womens rights and for creating strong independant women.

It is best known for being one of the original all-women's colleges in the country that helped to educate women in the early 1900's to enter the workforce as secretaries and other clerical positions.

What kind of person should attend this school?
Someone who is very comfortable with herself, it is a women's college after all, and who can move around independently. One should have very good flexibilty and resilience, and if not, should be very aware that she will learn it. She should be a student keen on exploring both her own identity and her field in much depth, for that is how she will succeed in and out of class. She should also have a desire to exceed all her hopes and dreams for a better, more refined vision and future.

What are the academics like at your school?
The academics are amazing here. There is also free tutoring. The class sizes are small and there is always someone to help you. The classes can be challenging for some and easy for others it just depends if you are taking a class that is a part of your major or a class that you are taking as an elective that is intended for someone else's major.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The most popular activities are choral, dance company, and all of the sports. There are many clubs to join but the favorite it the health and wellness club that teaches you how to love yourself in more ways than you thought. We also love our theatre crew.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
It has its ups and its downs. I feel it has helped me grow, but after a while it does wear you down. There is not much going on. However it is a great school for women to open up and find themselves. I really feel confident in that I am a whole new, and better, person than I was when I first came to Bay Path!
