It's a great school with lots of good classes and majors, and many extracurricular activities. The professors are always available and everyone is so helpful. The campus is very pretty and safe. There's a lot of good on-campus jobs and extra things to do.

This school is currently a mess, and I doubt it ever gets fixed because the blame their students for their problems. The school is controlled by a bunch of old conservative white guys that are out of touch with the struggles of the current generations, and it makes being a student here difficult. Alumn’s kids are favored and put in student leadership. Sports stars are worshipped. Everyone else is ignored and treated as if they are unimportant. I went to a high school in a wealthy area where the town largely belonged to old money, and STILL, I have never seen a school play favorites like this one does. They want to protect their own reputation as a school so much, that I personally was discouraged from reporting accounts of sexual assault to the police or creating an official complaint because the school would have to report it. Because of this sort of thing sexual assault is very common here, and the girls are often shamed and isolated for it. They act like they advocate for mental health, but once a student has any REAL illness they are shunned by the campus community. I have a friend with anorexia that is fully recovered, and she was forced to live alone and was not accepted by anyone. The culture here is extremely toxic. Student life will also create investigations for students without their knowledge, and it becomes difficult to know whether or not it is your turn to be “watched.” Unless you have the privelidge of being treated as one of the “important” people on campus, do not go here. Save your money for a college that has a better return and a better atmosphere.

I love it! Since of family and community. Smaller school and tons of opportunities. Everyone knows everyone and super friendly. Professors are always willing to help. Chapel, a real since of family away from home. Academics is strong since of values.

Kara - 06/12/2019

I really love the energy and the environment of the school. Like other schools and campuses there's always things that need changed or improved, but that's a long and slow process to get going. Everyone is super nice there, I've never run into someone without them giving a polite hello or greeting. The professors take a huge interest in your and your education. If you're struggling in a class and let them know, they try and help you out as much as they can.

  4. What's unique about your campus?

Community. Feeling like you belong to a family and to a huge circle of friends. That is what is so great about my college. When you step foot on AU's campus--you become part of it's makeup, part of it's being; and it becomes part of you. It might sound cheesy or overdone. But I myself, and others will tell you time and time again that AU is a place where you are loved--not discarded as just another face in the huge mass of learners.

  5. Describe the students at your school.

I chose Anderson University because I felt welcome. At a school so small, you'd think that you knew everyone, but you don't! However even if you don't know some people, they're usually recognizable and very friendly.

  6. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Open house hours. I realize that Anderson University is a Christian campus that is concerned about the students that attend. I knew there was no alcohol allowed on campus; that doesn't bother me. However, I did not know the extent of open house hours for the dorms. Simply put, they are few and far inbetween. On Monday and Wednesday, hours are from 6pm-10pm. On Friday, from 5pm-12am; Saturday from 1-12am and Sunday from 1-9pm. This alone wouldn't have stopped me from coming, but it was a suprise to have so few hours.
