Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 800 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a minority student. For the purposes of this award, a minority student is defined as a student who is either an African American; American Indian; Hispanic or Southeast Asian from Laos, Cambodia or Vietnam admitted to the United States after Dec. 31, 1975.
  3. Must be a resident of Wisconsin.
  4. Must be enrolled on a half-time basis or greater.
  5. Must be a U.S citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  6. Must attend an eligible independent, tribal, or technical college in Wisconsin.
  7. Must be a college sophomore, junior, or senior.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to Wisconsin residents who are classified as a minority and are undergraduate students enrolled in degree or certificate programs at Wisconsin Technical College, independent colleges and universities, or tribal colleges based in Wisconsin. Awards are based on financial need.

Additional Information: Awards under this program are made to Wisconsin resident minority undergraduates, excluding first year students, enrolled at an eligible Wisconsin private institution or technical college. Awards are based on financial need. Financial need is generally defined as the difference between the cost of attendance and the student’s expected family contribution (EFC). The EFC is determined by using the information reported in the FAFSA. Students who are delinquent in child support or maintenance payments or owe past support, medical expenses or birth expenses may not be awarded a Minority Retention Grant. Students who have already earned a bachelor's degree are not eligible to receive a grant under this program.

Award Amount: $250 to $2,500 annually, renewable up to three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,022.
