Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. Last year, 40 awards were given.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  4. Must have been a legal resident of New Mexico for one or more years.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must enroll full time in a public or private non-profit institution.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: New Mexico graduating high school seniors who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate financial need are eligible for this award. Students must apply by April 20 if attending a private or out-of-state school, and by June 20 if attending a public New Mexico school.

Additional Information: This program provides financial assistance to address the 'gap' in financial aid packages for both students graduating from high school and those continuing their education. Therefore, all applicants for this award must demonstrate financial need by having a gap of $500 to $10,000. All students must also be federal financial aid recipients.

Award Amount: $500 to $2,000 annually, renewable upon re-application.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,250.

Applications are available online from the Albuquerque Community Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit his/her financial aid award letter, FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), resume, personal statement, official transcript, one recommendation letter, and a statement of college/university budget (costs) on which aid is based. The applicant's name must be on every page of the application. Applications must be received by 4 p.m. MDT.
