Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to 12 grants awarded annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Missouri.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  5. Must be the child or spouse of a Vietnam veteran.
  6. Must not have received a bachelor's degree, completed 150 semester credit hours, or received the award for 10 semesters, whichever occurs first.
  7. Must attend a participating Missouri postsecondary school. A list of the participating schools is available at: dhe.mo.gov/ppc/grants/vietnamveterans.php .
  8. Must not be pursuing a degree or certificate in theology or divinity.
  9. The veteran under whom eligibility for this program is established must have been a Missouri resident when first entering the military service and at the time of death.
  10. The veteran under whose eligibility the student is applying must have died as a result of or caused by exposure to toxic chemicals during the Vietnam conflict.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to Missouri undergraduate students who are children and spouses of Vietnam veterans who served between 1961 and 1972 and whose deaths were attributed to, or caused by, exposure to toxic chemicals during the Vietnam conflict. The veteran must have been a Missouri resident when first entering the military service and at the time of death.

Additional Information: The MDHE will provide notice to students of eligibility. The institution determines final eligibility at the time the grant funds are requested each semester. All applicants must maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the school.

Award Amount: The maximum grant amount is the lesser of the following: the cost of the actual tuition charged at the school in which the student is enrolled full time (12 credit hours); or the average amount of tuition charged for 12 credit hours to an undergraduate Missouri resident enrolled full-time in the same class level and in the same academic major at the Missouri public four-year, regional institutions. Grants may be renewed annually until a student has obtained a bachelor's degree, completed 150 semester credit hours, or received the award for 10 semesters, whichever occurs first. The student must submit a renewal application each year. Awards are not available during summer terms.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,790.
