Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent.
  2. Must have graduated high school within the last two years and must be a first-time college freshman in the fall 2016 or spring 2017 semesters.
  3. Must enroll for at least three semester hours (or the trimester or quarter equivalent) in a program leading to an undergraduate degree.
  4. Must be a resident of Iowa.
  5. This award is for U.S students.
  6. Must attend an eligible Iowa college or university.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for Iowa undergraduate students who are enrolled at an eligible Iowa postsecondary institution. The student must have an EFC (Expected Family Contribution) of $8,550 or less and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: All applicants must have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $8,550 or lower from the FAFSA. Priority for awards is given to applicants who participated in certain federal TRIO programs, applicants who graduated from alternative high schools or alternative high school programs, and applicants who participated in a Federal GEAR UP Grant program in Iowa.

Award Amount: $4,644 annually, renewable for up to one additional year. Applicants must re-apply for renewal consideration. Please note: The actual award amount may vary based on current tuition rates and future changes to tuition and/or program funding.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,664.

Program information is available online from the Iowa College Student Aid Commission (ICSAC) website. To apply, students must complete both the Iowa Financial Aid Application (IFAA) and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The IFAA is available on the ICSAC website. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and in college financial aid offices. For priority consideration, the IFAA and FAFSA must be submitted on or before March 1.
