Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered annually is at the discretion of the DCF Board of Directors.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Delaware.
  4. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  5. Must be graduating from a Kent County public school.
  6. Must pursue a degree in engineering.
  7. Must enroll at a Delaware institution.
  8. Must be active in community service.
  9. Must enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in the fall of the year in which the scholarships are awarded.

Description: This scholarship is open to Delaware high school seniors who are graduating from a Kent County public school and plan to pursue an engineering degree at a Delaware institution. Students must be active in community service and have a low to moderate income.

Additional Information: To ensure complete impartiality in selection of recipients and to maintain a high level of professionalism, DCF programs are administered by AcademicWorks, a firm that specializes in managing sponsored scholarship programs. All students must have a low to moderate income. An independent selection committee will evaluate the applications and select the recipients considering: extracurricular activities; community involvement; essay content; academic achievements and records; financial need. Decisions of the selection committees are final and are not subject to appeal. No application feedback will be given. Notifications are sent to recipients and applicants not selected to receive an award via email by the end of June.

Applications are available online on the Delaware Community Foundation (DCF) website. Students must apply via the online application system, and will be required to register an account using their email address to access the application. Students need only submit one application to be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible. Each student must upload the following supporting documents to the application: ACT and/or SAT scores; high school transcript; a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report), which is generated after filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid); a copy of his/her or his/her parent's recent federal tax return (Form 1040) showing Adjusted Gross Income (AGI); an essay of 300 words or less describing his/her future goals; an essay of 500 words or less explaining how a family member, mentor, or personal experience has been influential in his/her life; and contact information for a personal recommendation. The recommendation should be from someone outside his/her family who is familiar with his/her character through school, community, religious, and/or extracurricular activities. The recommender will be sent instructions for uploading his/her letter. The application and all supporting documents must be received by the deadline.
