Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled in a mechanical engineering baccalaureate program.
  3. Must enroll full time.
  4. Must be a college junior or senior in the upcoming academic year.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen OR a resident of North America.
  6. Must be studying in the United States.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Rising college juniors and seniors studying mechanical engineering in the United States are eligible for this award. Students must be North American residents or U.S. citizens.

Additional Information: In memory of the late Kenneth Andrew Roe, former President of ASME and Chairman of the ASME Foundation, a scholarship fund was established in 1991. Applicants must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited school for the upcoming academic year. Information regarding accreditation status is available online at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx. Applicants also must have established a grade point average in their degree programs to qualify. If applicants have not established a grade point average at the college level, they are not eligible to apply. This award is based on scholastic ability, character, integrity, leadership, and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship results between June 15 and July 1. Scholarship money will be sent to scholarship winners by the end of August.

Award Amount: $13,000 annually, non-renewable.Scholarship awardees from past years will not be selected to receive additional scholarships. Students must apply again each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $13,000.
