10. Tickets for students to athletic events are free!
Just a swipe of your UD card and you’re in. But again, get there early.
9. UD students should support all sports, all players, for all seasons!
Football may rule, but if you have a night off from late-night studying, you should go support another one of our teams.
8. The more school-spirited you are at a game, the better (i.e. face paint, hair ribbon, YoUDee masks etc.)
Those who come especially made-up get to stand in the Cockpit at the football games, aka you’re a lot closer than the rest of us are to our players. The more face/body paint, ribbon, and apparel you have, the closer you’ll be.
7. Dela-where?
Yeah we may be the second smallest state in the country, but don’t let that defeat you. Our sports teams don’t exhibit our small size, and never let anyone tell you different.
6. There aren’t enough seats for us students
If a football game starts at 7 p.m., get there at 5 p.m. Our student section lacks a few thousand seats, so unless you want to be sitting next to a Villanova fan on the other side, get there early – real early.
5. KC Keeler rules all
KC is one of the most-known people on campus. He coaches our football team, which is basically the life of sports here.
4. Football is our sport
Football is definitely the most popular sport here. Yeah we have basketball, hockey and rugby, but (sadly) they are poorly attended.
3. Flacco
Joe Flacco went from the quarterback of UD to being paid $35 million bucks for the Baltimore Ravens. Rub it in.
2. Blue and kind-of gold
Officially our colors are blue and gold, but look at any UD apparel and you’ll see they’re really blue and yellow.
1. Our mascot
No, we’re not the Wildcats or the Hoyas or the Red Hawks. We’re the Blue Hens. FIGHTIN’ Blue Hens, that is!
