Okay, so I’m kinda new to this blogging thing. I have Facebook but I don’t really blog, so bear with me people in Internet-Land. 🙂
College is most definitely not what I expected it to be. For one thing, I expected to be at a co-ed school partying every night. I didn’t expect to be at GCU—a Catholic School—a Catholic all girls’ school. It’s funny, my Dad used to joke about sending me to a convent if I was bad and here I am, being taught by nuns.
When I was a freshman, I was the quiet kid in the corner and I just did my work like I was supposed to. I really didn’t get involved, and as a result, there was many a day when I came home crying that I hated GCU. Then, at the end of the year, I decided to join WILD (Women In Leadership Development) and everything changed. I made friends, I started talking to people in my class, and looking back on it now, that’s when I really started to grow.
What do I wish I’d done differently? Well, I wish I’d actually done something freshman year, instead of complaining about how there was nothing going on around campus. I wish I’d gone to campus events and stayed on campus more often. I wish I’d partied and enjoyed life as a college student more.
As a senior now, I think that going to GCU was a great decision. I seem to work better in the environment that it provides. I was never one for school—as long as I can remember I’ve absolutely disliked school—and here I am, slightly sad it’s coming to an end. And now I’m thinking about grad school.
