Western is best know for it's environmental science program, the field I will major in. There is great awareness about the environment at this school and provides students with the opportunity to make a difference when it comes to environmental issues. Western does it's part to help face a potential environmental crisis.

Maura

beautiful campus, close to outdoor activities, enviormentally aware, good audiology speech path major, art majors, Fairhaven college, green city, close to water and mountains, urban school near bigger cities but still feels small, liberal

Sarah

I believe WWU is best known for it's environmental science, geology, business, engineering, and education departments/colleges. I hear that Woodring College of Education is the best education school in Washington state, and that most students who graduate with an education degree from WWU are almost always guaranteed a teaching job. The geology department is really thriving, too. How can it not when it's so close to many geological sights like Mt. Baker, Lake Whatcom, Bellingham Bay, and Chuckanut Ridge? (there are fossils on those cliff faces! SO COOL!)
