Wellesley College Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about Wellesley College? Why?

Gail

Wellesley College is a bubble. You are secluded from the real world and are focused primarily on academia within these ivy walls. Our school is one of the few that do not offer credit for internships or co-ops. In the end, this only makes us narrow-minded and unable to see the real world and all its facets.

Shaheen

The worst thing about my school is how secluded we are from the rest of the world around us. To know what is going on in the world you have to actively read newspapers and listen to the radio. It's important to stay connected with what is going on in the world due to the constant discussions in the classroom. Actually going in pursuit of the knowledge of other college and news of whats happening today is one of the largest difficulties on campus due to our busy schedules.

Anna

Wellesley can definitely become a little intense at times, and it's hard to compete with so many talented, intelligent women. Sometimes the pressure to have something intelligent to contribute in class is a little intimidating.

Theresa

All women environment lacks an active social life

Jenni

It's hard to meet students from other schools. We're able to cross-register at MIT and a few other schools, but non-Wellesley students who aren't open to Wellesley girls. The stigma and the difficulty in meeting other students is the hardest thing to deal with when attending.

Amy

Nothing! I love Wellesley so much.

Christina

Wellesley women have fabulous communication skills and are very vocal in their opinions, unfortunately many conversations about controversial topics etc. were had in online forums rather than in person. I think face to face communication is a weakness.

Candice

Some of the dorms aren't the cleanest. I live in the best dorm and love the showers. Other showers on the campus are scary. I'd be afraid to touch the walls.

Christine

The worst thing about Wellesley is that it can become a very tense, uptight, and stressful because everyone is so focused on grades.
