Not all my professors know my name but thats because most of my classes have 100+ students in them.
My favorite class is biology because we are getting into the biology of animals which is my area of study so I am looking forward to it.
I see quite a bit of students studying in the dining centers and especially in the library when I go there. I have seen some of the girls in my dorm down in our study room as well.
Outside of class most students just want to have fun and not think about or talk about class but if the chance arises, then students will have intellectual conversations outside of class.
Most students are competitive for the best grade because if they don't get the best they think they could have done better or didn't do their best.
The most unique class I have taken, and would highly recommend to incoming freshman is HD 205. It helps with day to day bullshit that we stress over and it opens the door to new opportunities and its a great way to meet new people.
In my experience, the education I am receiving here at Washington State University is setting me up to be successful in the career I am working so hard to achieve. It really is a great place to come and learn as well as have fun.

Students at WSU tend not to compete against each other. Most professors curve grades up when they're not as high as they think they should be. To date, no professor I've seen has curved grades down. WSU's academic requirements are fair, as well as a majority of instructors. Those of you who come to WSU should try your best to avoid HD 205; it's an abmoral blemish on an otherwise excellent course selection. HD 205 will put you with 25 or so random strangers in forced community service in the name of a group not necessarily affiliated with WSU.

The most unique class I've taken is Human Developement 205. It wasn't what I was expecting at all. We actually go out and help real people through a group called Horizons. Our project is directed at getting a community center and a skate park for a town named Klickitat. They were really clueless on how to go about it so it feels real good to be involved in something real.

When you first start out, your classes are huge. I have had classes from 200-400 people in them and the teachers didnt know my name. My Teaching Assistants did. However, once you get going and finish your general classes, then your classes will get smaller and all of my teachers now know me by my first name. Washington State is an awesome school with teachers who love teh Cougs just as much as the students. Actually, they probably love them more because a lot of them went here when they were younger. It is not rare to run into a Professor at the store and talk to them. I have had a few Professors that go to the Library with me and have some pretty intense intellectual conversations that have completely changed how I think. What I love most about the education system here is that it is set up to develop your communication skills and prepare you to get a job through both what you know and who you know.
