best thing about wake is my friends and the friendly environment..I think its a great size...when people find out I am go to wake they are usually impressed...Winston is a nice town but its a little seedy in some parts and at time feels small

The best thing about Wake to me is that I can walk across the mag quad and I'll always be able to say hi to someone, but I know that over my four years I won't ever be able to walk across it and know everyone.
There is a lot of racial tension and division, and while it is getting a lot better it is still something that proves to be frustrating.
I came from a southern, all-girls high school. I thought I wanted a much bigger institution but ended up coming to Wake rather randomly, and it ended up being a perfect transition.
When I tell people that I go to Wake, the reaction is usually along the lines of, "Wow, smart!" (if they've heard of it that is.)
Most of my time I spend on campus is on my hall, in Benson, or in the library.
The area around Wake isn't the greatest- there are a lot of muggings and break-ins, but on campus is generally pretty safe. It isn't a college town persay, but the restaurants in Winston-Salem are to die for, and there are some pretty cute areas downtown and some nice gardens near campus as well.
I would say there is a decent amount of school pride. Screamin Demons is a good idea and a lot of people participate, but there is also a sort of stigma that goes along with it, especially during football season where the Greek population is usually more interested in sundresses and ties and tailgating. That being said, we have had great turnouts at our bowl games. I do know that just about everyone is proud of the institution itself as well- its hard and we know it, and that makes us feel better than the state schools and other schools around our academic level.
One unusual thing about Wake is the way the Greek system is set up. With the exception of one, the fraternities and sororities have halls and lounges on campus instead of actual houses. This prompts a lot of off campus parties at satellite houses. There are also a lot of old traditions that are specific to Wake Forest as well, such as the transition from societies to sororities.

I love the size of the school, small enough to know someone everywhere you go but big enough to see new faces everyday. I spend most of my time in the library, my room, and in the student center.

The best thing about Wake is the small size with big resources...great athletics and amazing reputation, yet there aren't too many students. Yea sometimes it feels like a little bubble because, as a senior, I sometimes feel like I know most everyone, but most of the time it is a nice feeling.
People are usually impressed when I say I go to Wake, not only for the academics but amazing athletics!
"What college town"...yea besides Wake there isn't much to do in Winston-Salem. W-S has improved in my four years here, and W-S only has plans to get better. But, there is so much going on at Wake and with Wake students that there isn't really a need to look elsewhere.

The best thing is the closeness of the campus. I think the size is just right. People react well when they learn I attend Wake. I spend most of my time in my dorm. "What college town" I don't really have an opinion about the administration. Biggest controversy is the increase in tuition. Tons of school pride. Most frequent complaint is about the college town

the best thing is the small community feel, small class sizes, and great academics-- you get out of it what you put into it. I'd definitely create more room for parking- maybe a well designed parking garage that still uphold the building integrity.

Best thing about Wake -- it's size, we're a close student body. I would change the dorms -- they're too small and students often move off campus to have a larger space. Just right in size. When I say I go to Wake people usually are impressed. I spend most of my time on campus in my room doing work/sleeping our in my sorority lounge. "what college town." I generally like the administration but I don't know if they always have our best interests at heart. Biggest controversy -- Riley Skinner's naked pictures. Definitely a lot of school pride. Unusual about Wake -- it's very small but we have great involvement, lots of activities, lots of opportunity to do great things, and we're a student body that generally excels after graduation. An experience I will always remember is rolling the quad after the win against Maryland after a huge comeback. Most frequent student complaints are that classes are too difficult, and that professors schedule things back-to-back.

The best thing about Wake is the people. Staff and students are very friendly. I would change the dorm rooms at Wake Forest. The suites on the quad are not ideal for living and studying. Wake is a great size!! I am concerned because it is growing in size and I do not think that it should. Most people are impressed when I tell them that I go to Wake. Other people have no idea where or what Wake Forest is. I spend most of my time in my room or in Scales at Wake. There is a lot of school pride, but there could be more.

i think it is just the right size, im against increasing the size. the best thing about wake is the community. people react impressed usually that i go to wake. most of my time is spent in benson, the library, in the classroom. wake's administration is good and consistent, and they make it possible for students to actually change certain things within the school (it is perceived they often take the students' opinions into consideration). recent controversy: raising tuition, increasing size, moving a business coffee shop onto campus (Which would most likely put the current student-run coffee shop out of business). greek life is huge here but it is the most respectable greek life i have seen in a college setting (very good relationships between greek members). yes there is a lot of school pride. people are genuine and kind here. complaints: food (though a lot if changing over the summer, hopefully that will get better), off campus parties are a hassle.

I love the size of Wake Forest. When I tell others that I go to Wake, they are usually impressed. I spend most of my time on the academic quad on campus. The administration here is very helpful and smart.
