Consider ALL aspects of the school- location, weather, professors, cost, students, etc - and make sure the you can withstand four plus year at the school. If you have any doubts, consider other options.

To the students: know your self before going in. Or know most things about your self. Know if your the social butterfly or the shy book worm. Me as an example I am both. At school I love to be loud and outgoing in class but when it comes to studying I love to be locked up in a quiet room by myself. Always know when to say "no" to partying. The party is always going to be around somewhere everynight. Don't ever think the world will end because you didn't destroy some brain cells that night instead of focusing on your studies or something more important.
To the parents: know that your child is going to be an idiot every once in awhile and that times and the law have changed very harassly. So have bail money on hand and don't hate your child for doing the things you did but now we can't be let off for. As long as they are doing good in their studies, have minimal screw ups, seem patienent in the work that they're doing, and aren't breaking your bank, love them and they will love you.

The key to finding the right college is to visit the campus and see which one fits your own personality.

Do not wait until high school to financially prepare for any higher education institution. Sometimes, being athletic and having a B average in high school is not enough. In the state of Georgia, the HOPE Scholarship is given to college students who maintain a B average or higher. The scholarship only covers for tuition and some books. Payment for room and board, travel, mealplans and etc. are still needed. Therefore, you must research as many scholarships as possible and do not neglect the possibility of loans, despite the temptation.

The best advice that could be given is to not rush any decision. Take your time and research thouroughly each college and carreer path in order to get the whole picture before your plunge into college life. Visitations are one of the best factors when deciding on a college because when you visit a school, you get a better feel for the school than just reading about it or looking at the pictures. When you get to college the best thing you can do is to talk; talk to other students, professors, and professionals. Talking will get you far. It will make college life easier and help with making friends and better grades. The last peice of advice that I can give is to not study too much. Work and study to do well in school, but there is still three more years of college and if you want to make it through all of them it is best not to burn out early.

Get a tour from a current student at each college you visit. They can give you the insight you won't get from a book. look at several different kinds of schools and consider all of your options. Once your there get envolved!!! Join an organization, club, or rush!!! Go out to support the sports teams and enjoy yourself. Don't forget about your studies. Have good time but don't let your grades slip because that is you first priority.

this school has a lot of parties. if your child is not use to freedom they may get cought up in the party hype and loss track of school. if they can stay focus this this is an excelent school, bt if they can't then west georgia is not for them.
