What are the academics like at University of the Pacific?

Julio

Like I mentioned earlier, the best thing about Pacific is the Student to Faculty ratio. Your professors get to know you and vice versa because classes are small. If you miss class, your professor will send you an email, and sometimes even call you to find out why you missed class. It may sound a bit creepy, but they do this because they want you to succeed. One of my favorite classes so far would have to be an elective I chose to take: Poetry. This class expanded my knowledge on the history and procedures of written poetry. Never in my life did I imagine that I could write poetry until this class. Pacific's academic requirements are tough, but there are so many resources to find help. We have many retention programs, and some of these even offer free tutoring. Our professors are always available during office hours, and you can even schedule an appointment with them on campus or off campus. Pacific's education will head you in the direction of employment. Over 90{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of students that graduate obtain employment withing 6 months of graduating.

The professors, for the most part, are great. Any one of the profs in my department could write me a letter of rec and genuinely know things about me. There are some tenured profs that seem like they have lost steam and don't care to update themselves on current things going on on college campuses. Office hours are followed and profs are very accessible. Intellectual conversations are common all over campus, not just in the classroom. The best, most useful class I have taken in Public Speaking. The professor is amazing. The most unique class I will be taking is Sports Law.
