Why did you decide to go to University of South Carolina-Columbia?

Samantha

I decided i wanted to go to the University of South Carolina because I fell in love with the campus. I knew I wanted to be in a city, but I still wanted a real college campus experience, and I needed to have football. USC had everything I wanted so the minute i set foot on the campus I knew I was in the right place and this is where I wanted to go to school

It is an acredited school that was in state, and came well recommended.

My options for college were between USC and Syracuse, but I chose USC not only because of the weather, but because of the close community the school has to offer. I love the diversity and the school cultures & traditions. There are so many ways one can get involved and getting involved essentially makes you a more well-rounded individual. Even if you don't like what you belong in at first, or if you don't belong to anything at all there are so many ways to get involved such as, joining one or more of the 1000 clubs, greek life, student government, athletic teams, club teams, honors societies, learning and living communities, etc. I am a huge risk-taker (in a positive way) and there was nothing like leaving NY and starting a life in a completely different state with different people. I definitely experience some culture-shock at first, but being associated by not only one, but two USC schools, I know where I ended up happened for a reason and it was the best decision I ever made. I encourage all my friends to try something new because even at first if it seems scary, like moving away or joining something will a well-known stereotype, you will never know until you try. & taking the risk was definitely worth the thrill.

It was close to home and had the major that I wanted. It's not easy finding a school that offers public relations as well as sport management in South Carolina. It's a good school academically and I wanted to go somewhere that offered Division 1 sports. It doesn't get better than Saturday SEC football.

I decided to go to this school because it had the perfect balance of everything I was looking for. It had the football team, basketball team, baseball team, SEC sports! It also had great academic programs and everyone was passionate about their majors. I also loved the Greek system and how it makes a big school seem much smaller and more manageable. The weather is definitely a plus with very few cold days and USC gives people the perfect combination and sets you up for social, academic and growing up.

USC is in my blood! Plus it is far enough away from home but still close enough that if an emergency occurs I can get back!

USC gives a lot of scholarships, which was a big part of my decision to come here. Most of the people I know are receiving some sort of scholarship from USC, and many out-of-state students can receive in-state tuition. The scholarships are reasonable and definitely help with financing college.
