University of San Diego Top Questions

I decided to go to USD for several reasons. First, I am Catholic, and I wanted to go to a Catholic school. Second, I wanted a smaller-school feel. The last thing I wanted was to be in an auditorium of 200 kids for class. My teachers know me by name, and I appreciate being able to know them personally. I love walking across campus and saying hi to friends and people I know. Another thing I love about USD is the location and weather. San Diego is such a cool city with so many places to explore, and the beautiful sunny weather makes it all possible. I am outside almost all the time. Also, USD is very academically challenging. Some kids would rather slide through college, but I love knowing that I'm learning something. Even though classes get hard, I know my teachers are always willing to help. These are just some of the things I love about school...there are way too many to be able to list them all!

I decided to go to USD because I get the personal attention from my professors and the connections that I need to be successful. Not to mention the beautiful San Diego location where the beach is 10 minutes away and the weather is always sunshine. USD has so much to offer!

As soon as a stepped on the campus, I knew I could not pass up the beauty of USD. I also knew it was a great school in a great city, so I knew I just had to go.

When I was a senior in high school, I wanted to go to Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, they only gave me $2,000 in scholarship money and my parents could not afford to make up the difference for tuition. A week later, I received my scholarship/financial aid award letter from USD and they provided me with a full ride. I took this letter to LMU and begged for more money, but they were disinterested and seemed not to care. USD, on the other hand, seemed to really care about their students and tried to provide them with as much opportunity as possible. I knew it was the school for me. Furthermore, I loved that USD had small class sizes where you actually got to know your professor on a first-name basis. I can honestly say, as a graduating senior, that my professors know me very well and any one of them could write an excellent recommendation for graduate school. If you're looking to continue your education beyond an undergraduate degree, fostering relationships with your professors is extremely important. The last reason that I chose USD was that I loved the location. San Diego is one of my favorite cities in the world - it's clean, it's right by the ocean, it's eclectic and the weather is always a mild 70 degrees. What more could you ask for?
