URI is stereotyped as a big party school and has even gained the nickname "U R HIGH." There's definitely an association between the school, alcohol and drugs and people seem to assume there's a lot of students who never go to class.

Some stereotypes that I heard about URI before I began was that it was a big cocaine school with a social scene which was dominated by greek life. I heard that it was crucial to have a car, or knew someone with a car if you wanted to have a social life because all the parties happened "down the line".

Some of the main ideas about URI are to make the students to master any major that he or she is willing to take. Me as a URI student, do not have words to explain how I feel today afeter graduating from URI. When I think about the way I started my college education in URI, and the way I feel today so stunned, so proud of myself of achieving such degreed as a BA in History, I honestely do not have words to explain it. Regarding URI professors, there is no doubt, as educators they are the best of the world, because when they were able to teach a person like me, they are able to teach anyone. I am the first college graduate of eight sons that a single mom raised in one of the poorest town in Dominican Republic.
