The College of Environmental and Life Sciences is great, with great professors and classes. The Marine Biology program is fantastic due to the university having the Graduate School of Oceanography, which is one of the best in the country. We are the only school in the country to have our own research vessel. There are tons of opportunities for students interested in marine science to work in research laboratories here.

When I brag about my school, I mention the professors. They all work very hard to ensure you are learning at an optimum level. They know what they are talking about and relay the information so that the students can easily understand. Although it is a fairly large school, the professors encourage one on one time with them or their teaching assistants.

URI has a very strong animal science deparment. The teachers are deacated to their profession and their students, offering a wide array of advice. There is a farm, Peckham farm, on campus that allows much hands on interaction with animals; such as sheep, chickens, goats, cows, pigs, a donkey, and a llama. The farm is very humane and those who maintain the farm are dedicated to provide the most fulfilling life for the animals that reside on it. URI provides a unique environment for those who are passionate for the creatures people share the world with.

I love going to school in-state because I am far enough away from home that if I need to or want to go home I can. The size of the school is just perfect I never feel like it is too overwhelming. I have made plenty of friends throughout the past year and a half here at URI and can not see myself going anywhere else.
