the small size and friendly atmosphere creates a friendly and unique society that really does become a strong community. Attending school at the university of portland allowed me to create many wonderful friends that i knew would be there for me throughout school and after school.

I considered schools that were very similar. This one had the best Nursing program.

The University of Portland is a small close knit community of students and faculity. It does not have hundreds of students in each class like many of the big state schools do. Rather it has small classes of no more than forty on average. Professors actually get to know the students individually and are able to help out. Since classes are not taught by a TA the professors can relate each student to how they are performing in class and easily speak to them during office hours.

Its small which allows you to be involved in a lot and get to know many of your classmates. I have been given so many opportunities because of the size, including being involved in student government, getting cheap tickets to NBA games and concerts, knowing the administrators well including the President and VP of the school.

The thing that stands out is the location. Portland is a great medium-sized city that is just far away from home (for me) to make me feel like 've built myself a new life and re-created myself into what I want to be. The school genuinely cares about graduating its students on time, but it also makes sure that the graduates have the experience necessary to be well-rounded and able adults.

After only a few weeks here, you build a strong relationship with not just the city, but with the school and your peers. It's really easy to fall in love with this city and school.

It's small, and everyone likes each other.

I enjoy the small class sizes. It really helps me focus better than I believe I would if the classes were bigger. As most people think attendance is a bad thing, it very much requires me to do the work when I would otherwise fall behind. Ultimately, I like the drive the University of Portland gives me to be a better student.

the campus is beautiful and it has a real college feel. lots of brick buildings. also, the whole area is very beautiful. i came from san diego where there are no seasons and portland has a beautiful fall and spring. the surrounding neighborhood also has very cute, old style houses. it kind of looks like a super college town, but there's no football or frats so its a lot more low key. people are friendly and always smile.
