I have gotten so much valuable experiences out of my college stay that people could ask me about the time I spent at UNT. Going here has been a blessing in disguise really. I didn't think at first making the grades would be simple. I attended Junior College thruogh North Central Texas College. That is why I always reccomend taking classes or even a semester at a local Jr. College. It helped see that not only studying but preseervance comes from within.

My college experience at Gainesville State College so far has been amazing. I've learn many things that I didn't know going in. I learned how easy it is to connect to my fellow peers and how to use every resources that is available to me. This is the one college that actually cares about your progress and helps make sure you are on the right track to graduation. Attending Gainesville has made my experience here welcoming to the fact that I can to this college not knowing anyone and as a very shy person to coming here and coming out knowing many. My campus has many activities to help you get comfortable to the new surrounds and the whole college experience which is why my college experience has been amazing and welcoming.

I have gotten out of my college experience so much experience already in the field of office software applications. One of the classes I am going for is Computer Applications. What I am learning in there is how to use and operate one of the popular suites Microsoft Office efficiently and proficiently. This is the biggest experience I will learn because if I can operate how to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database management, then I can work on the tougher aspects of telecommunications. One major aspect is working and setting up huge and heavy servers that need to add records of users to its database. This is essential because we are no longer having sign-in sheets or using punch cards at my college. Being able to successfully create and manage a virtual environment is critical to the success of the actual environment. Needing something dynamic and controllable in computers and technology complements the static and uncontrollable actual world. My experience will help me control others' frustration with helping them do things that they cannot barely do on their own.

I was the first in my family to attend college, and by no means was it an easy road getting to where I am now. As a freshman, I went to Concordia University in Austin, TX, thinking that I had to get away from my small north Texas town. The college campus was gorgeous, but the school was not the right fit. It was also a religious affiliated school, and the college was not very diverse in its student body or organizations on campus. During winter break, I was talking with an old friend from high school who was attending the University of North Texas. I was telling him about Concordia and how much I wished I went to a school that offered Journalism, which was my passion in high school. He told me how great the UNT Journalism department was, and that same night I submitted my application to the school. I had never even been to Denton before I moved in for classes in the fall of 2009. Now, I wished I had come here as a freshman. I love UNT and Denton more and more every day. I wish I could stay here for ever.

I grew up in a kind of bubble, i went to school with the same kids i went to church with, whom also happened to all live near me. We all did vacations together, played soccer together and later competed. So, college for me, meant that all of that went out the window i got exposed to people from different cultures, communities, backrounds. I was able to really experience, whether it be food or launguage or just movies. I got to truly taste and see the world around me and what i saw was bright color and what i tasted was alive. Having that oppourtunity has altered my perception of all things, and i look forward being able to finish out my time and bring this capacity in me to the world around me.

At my first year of college I have gained many new friendships and life experiences that will continue to grow and help me through the years to come. Some of those people could be future employers and others could just be there for me when I need someone to study with. When I say "life experiences" I mean skills such as overcoming procrastination, meeting new people, finding your way around, and general problem solving skills. There are many bumps, or problems, on the college road, and I think it has been valuable to attend because it teaches you how to maneuver around those bumps, keep going, and come out strong, knowing much more than you did before. So, to conclude, the college experience is unforgettable and you will soon find out that the simple life experiences are just as valuable as the education you are actually paying for.

Although my college experience isn't complete yet, I believe it has already begun to change the way I look at life and other people. I have begun to open up to new experiences that I wouldn't have tried before college. I have been on many adventures and have even explored new places, but most of all, becoming independent as a woman has been the most of what I have gotten out of college, which makes this whole experience valuable to me.

I have gained a deeper insight into what my true calling is for my career. I have gained experiences that I have already used in my jobs I'm holding while attending school. I have learned to manage my time more efficently through juggling school work, classes, and two part time jobs. I have discovered that the core classes are important along with your program classes in the overall degree you will earn. It is important to be a well rounded person. So even if you are not majoring in science, politics, or history, it is important that you have a basic understanding of key aspects in all areas to be an active responsible member of society. As an education major I look at the overall degree curriculum as how can I teach the minds of tomorrow without understanding the minds of the past.

I've realized that there is so much more to do, see, feel, experience, taste, and try in the world than I could have ever imagined. In my one and a half years of college so far, I've been involved in a community garden, gone on a trip to Minnesota over spring break to help out the less fortunate, started writing my first novel, and been able to perform for hundreds of different people. I've made so many wonderful, long lasting friendships, and discovered all the passion and zest for life that there was hidden within me. At UNT, I've observed planets and stars through fancy telescopes, met people from several different countries, learned how to lessen my "footprint" on the Earth, and sharpen my scholarly skills. Being away at school has opened my eyes to all of the beauty there is out in the world, waiting to be explored. My freshman year was tough, changing, losing friends, making new ones, figuring myself out; but this past semester has been the most fantastic experience of my life. The only word I can think to describe it is simply golden. It's been a golden year indeed.

During this last year of college I have passed throught many personal and educational experiences. It is hard as a student and as a human, yet, it is possible to obtain the knowledge we need to move forward. Our power is based on knowledge not money, so I believe college will continue providing valuable information for our studies and for our future lifes. If their is something that I learned at college, it was that I should become a leader and do what is right for the future of our country. To help each other in our time of need and to study or the train will leave the station. I believe knowledge is power and because of this, I'd say it has been valuable to attend because it brings a new step to becoming a young intelligent adult.
