What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Brittany

I would say that the club sports are pretty popular. I played club soccer first semester and it was alot of fun. We traveled to Wilmington for a weekend and other places. It is definetly good to get involved. I met my closest friends at UNCG in my classes. Alot of them had the same major as me so we are always in the same classes. If I am awake at 2AM I am either in the computer lab on campus or a coffee shop that is still open. People do party but not obnoxiously and if so I have never heard of it. On a saturday night, you can go bowling, go to movies, watch a movie at someones apartment, there are alot of other alternatives.

I LOVE my social life at UNCG. My friends and I met through classes or at parties and we've all formed a very close bond. We have a bar that we frequent and we spend as much time as possible together. We go to parties about twice/three times a week and we always have a blast. When I loved in the dorms, my door was always opened to my friends. Everyone on our hall got close immediately.

Nightlife is ok but not great. Many students clubs and on campus activities.

The organization I was involved with was quite lame. The newspaper I work for is pretty cool--laid back and relaxed. UNCG is a suitcase school, meaning everyone leaves on the weekends, in which the campus is dead.Parties and clubs are big on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Tuesday nights are usually reserved for bars. Fraternities-sororities are huge at UNCG(at least 50 million). Dancing at a downtown club is the only thing you can do on a Saturday night in Greensboro, considering most of the population of the city consist of retired baby-boomers.

BIG partiers. it's weird, people tend to party more around exam time, when they should be studying...

In the freshmen dorms people are friendly, especially Weil-Winfield (which is also the nicest with the hottest sports guys too!). In the rest of the dorms (upperclass) no one really talks to each other at all. I never even met most of my hallmates last year, its kinda lame. The dating scene is lame any time after freshman year. I met my closest friends freshman year or in my major classes. Wed. night is Inferno night- lots of gay guys/ frat guys. Thursday is Greene St. which is basically where the "popular" kids go, its somewhat selective. Some ppl go to Arizona Pete's which is more fun, less stuck up also. A lot of people have small gatherings, you have to know people though.

Social life is pretty dull. everyone has their on group uncg does offer a wide variety of speakers and such

There are all kinds of ways to be involved at UNCG. I'm not in any extracurricular activities due to work, but those who are seem really happy and open to people. I wish I could be more involved, b/c thoe people always look as though they're having a great time. There are always things to go to, such as speakers(who actually are interesting!), athletic events, theatre performances, and many others. Of course there are parties on campus, but that doesn't get in the way of academics either. You can easily do well in school with an active social life.

If you're looking for a Greek school, this probably isn't the one for you. We do have a Greek organization, but it's MUCH smaller than most. The sororities do not have individual off campus housing, only the fraternities. They don't really do very much for students who aren't Greek (ie: open parties). House parties are more of a popular thing here whether it be by a random student or a few members of a athletic team. In the fall, the soccer games are usually attended by most with parties following afterwards, same for the basketball and wrestling team. Spring usually calms down because you'll find the Spring semester always seems to go by faster.

Tha social life here is great. Campus Activites and other departments make the campus welcoming by putting on NUMEROUS of free show and activities that are offered by the campus.
