UNC is often stereotyped as an academically challenging school that studies hard but can also have a good time and has great sports teams. UNC students seem to be stereotyped as rich, obnoxious, and pretentious.

Many people from other colleges in the area think that we all think we are better than everyone. Also that we are unstoppable in basketball. Always and forever.

It can be seen as a very homogeneous student body: white, preppy, well-off, southern, majority being from Charlotte and Raleigh. It is known as the best of the UNC schools so the students are smart, very competitive, and very much follow the "work hard, play hard" philosophy.

People who don't go to UNC tend to think that we're all stuck up about our school as an entirety and obsessed with our mens basketball team.

They are all extremely liberal, there is little racial integration.

Depending on who you ask, you'll either hear that we're all left-wing communist hippies who will corrupt your innocent kid and send her home a pot smoking pagan lesbian who always votes straight-ticket for Democrats. The opposite extreme you'll hear is that we're a "wine and cheese" crowd. Everyone's from Charlotte or Raleigh and has belonged to a country club since birth.
