The most frustrating thing about attending the University of North Carolina in the tutition surcharge. After a student exceeds 140 credits at a North Carolina school, they are charged an additional 50{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} tutition rate.

The most frustrating thing about UNCA is the lack of time on the professors hands to teach AND advise. There are several adjunct professors. The professors who have recieved tenior are are the professors whom really understand the steps that students need to take in order to graduate from UNCA. A common problem in this situation is a student taking class(es) that are not actually required for that student's individual graduation. This leads to the student paying surcharge fees of 150{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of their tuition rate later in their education at UNCA.

As a transfer student with a double major, it has been difficult to create a plan that will emcompass all of the school's requirements - many of which are poorly taught because the teachers are not completely interested in the subject matter they are required to teach - while staying under the total of credit hours allowed per student. Because of these complications, I will be in school much longer than anticipated, and will, therefore, end up spending much more money for my BA degree.

What is most frustrating about my school is the lack of diversity. There are very few students who are from any other group aside from caucasian, which is hard for me as a student who is from a city with a majority of black and hispanic people and used to having friends from other backgrounds and countries. At the same time, it would be frustrating to know that minority students are offered scholarships solely for the reason of diversification. An exchange program would be great!

The most frustrating thing about my school is its desire to grow in student body size when I believe it is perfect at the level it is at. UNC Asheville has always been known for its ability to reach its students on a more personal level and aquire better educational outcomes through that teacher / student relationship created. If UNC Asheville were to grow in size , I think it would be steered away from its original goal of student development through a small more interactive college.

The Financial Aid office doesn't know what they're doing, really.

There are a lot of hippies who attend and hang around and smoke marijuana and participate in drum circles at all hours. It's one thing to be environmentally conscious, it's another to be so caught up in it so as to be wrapped up in the politics and lifestyle rather than trying to actually act toward achieving the goal. That's really the only part that stands out when I think of negatives.

Because of the specific requirements, it can be very difficult to get in some classes. With a school this small, it isn't uncommon to need a course that is only offered one semester or the other, and that can make it difficult to fulfill the needed requirements.
