Parties:
Through the cycle of Dean's and the Powers that Be, we have experienced many party school phases. In reality, UNH is not a huge party school. Sure, we get down on the weekends, but come Monday we've cleaned up pretty nicely. UNH's student population is spread out through three small towns, and some towns may party more than others. UNH is located in Durham, and Durham is usually pretty quiet. It is a family town with a very small main street. If the "scene" were bigger, and there was more of a town to explore, I think it would be seen as a big party place. Of course, this doesn't mean we aren't fun!
Academics:
We are a research school, and one of the only three Universities in the country that gets funding from NASA for being big on science and space. A lot of time and money and attention goes into certain science programs, but that doesn't mean it's a school for people interested in only the sciences. The liberal arts program at UNH is very popular and makes up a large percentage of the University. Many people at UNH dabble in several fields, and like to mix things up. Some people study forestry and business at the same time. Some study music and math equally. Some focus on language and culture, while others are content with family studies. The diversity of academics is what makes UNH a really interesting school.

I don't think it is as accurate as people think. I don't think UNH parties more than most other schools. It is a college, there's definitely going to be drinking and partying but I do not think it is more than the average.

I think theres people who like to have a good time, but who get their work doen as well! So no I do not believe this
Erika
UNH Students do like to party, but they are also very motivated hardworking students

All are true, except for the party school point.

Not necessarily, it is said that every stereotype is based off of some sort of truth,, but in general stereotypes are very exaggerated and unfair. For instance there are many non-hicks at unh, and plenty of students who drink just as much if not more than greeks.
Nicole
I do not believe in any way shape or form that these accusations and stereotypes are true. I know from personal experience that our house has to maintain a specific GPA and we take pride in our academics. When you are a member of an organization such as Greek Life, you take pride in upholding a positive image and name for yourself.

Of course there are some people from small towns but it is not representative of our entire campus population
