I attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. When people think of UNL they usually classify everyone as farmers and hicks or interested only in Agricultural Science and football. This stereotype is not accurate at all. Yes, there are those people that walk to class in cowboy boots but UNL has so many different types of people and cultures represented on campus. There are honor societies, athletic teams, and every type of club you can think of. The greek system on campus is very large too. I came from out of state so I had no idea what to expect of Nebraska. I did come here thinking that everyone came from a small town or had cows grazing in their back yard when in fact most come from cities and are very social. The decision to go to UNL was the best decision I ever made.

Many people think that because we are a campus in Nebraska we only have students from rural areas. This is simply not true! We have numerous students from across the globe! I have personally had the opportunity to interact with international students, students from out-of-state, as well as students from righ here in Nebraska; both big city kids and farming families. Being a public university we have a lot to offer our diverse campus of students.

Some stereotypes of students at UNL are similar to the stereotypes of Nebraskan's in general. People think UNL students are all farmers and from small towns. However, this stereotype is not completely accurate. There are many out-of-state students and foreign exchange students on campus. Although, the campus is predominately caucasian.
