University of Montevallo Top Questions

To get involved with college night early on instead of waiting till my junior year to get involved! It's so much fun, and I can't wait for my first time back as an alum.

There are not many things about this school that I was unprepared for, but if I had to come up with something i would say that I wish I had known that almost every assignment/quiz is done online, even if the course is not online. This was not a huge deal to me, but I was not prepared to do a lot of navigating online. It took me a little while while to learn how to use and navigate Montevallo's student website.

The bricks would most likely be my answer. The representative made sure to include various clubs and on campus facilities when she came to speak to my high school. But she never mentioned that the bricks were a bit old and slippery. However, it is always an interesting topic around campus to hear about trips and falls.

I wish that I would have come to this school first. I went to another school first, which was far too large for my comfort level. I wish that I would have known about the welcoming and helpful environment at this campus. If I had known how supportive the falculty and staff were here, I would have chosen this college first.

Sometimes things come at you really fast, and you have to forgive yourself. Don't ever take a break from working on your grades, because sometimes your professor doesn't curve and he leaves you with an 89. Try to become friends with everyone, staff and professors included. Its worth it.

I wish I would have known how independent you must become when you go to college. Despite what teachers tell you in high school, you are babied through secondary education. In college, you're completely on your own, and you have to learn how to take care of yourself in order to be successful.

Before I came to this school, I wish I had been more informed of financial aid and how everything works.

Before I attended the University of Montevallo I wish I had known more about the variety of majors that this Univeristy actually offers. I came into the University determined to be an Elementary Education teacher. I had no idea the many majors that all had great success. After long consideration and learning about the countless majors I had to change my major to Speech Pathology. I am extremely blessed to be able to take such a variety of classes to find out exactly which major was right for me.

Before I came to Montevallo I wish I had known better studying and note taking techniques to better off myself in and out of the classroom.
