What should every freshman at University of Missouri-Kansas City know before they start?

My greatest advice is to be as prepared as possible and do your research. Most campuses have web sites with valuable information that can dramatically improve the registration process. Also, get accustomed to managing your time efficiently. When doing a tour, don't just ask to see the doors and public areas, ask to see the labs, classrooms, and research facilities. Are they up-to-date? Are they well maintained? Ask if you can shadow another student currently attending that university for a day? This is a great way to interact socially and academically with the current students and faculty.

Advice i would give parents/ or students infinding the right college would be, find a college that your comfortable with and that will help you the most in persuing your career. If your serious about college, pick a college that is serious also, not a college thats know for partying. Also if you know what you want to major in, look at what they have for your major and how well you prepared you will be when you graduate

I would advise students to first choose a college with a wide range of majors, that is affordable and in a good location. Most students change their major so it would be good to choose a college with a wide choice of majors. I recommend living in the dorms for the first couple of years, to make friends and get the whole experience of college. As students figure out what the want to do and make more friends they can move off campus and focus more on completing their degree.
