The amount of people and the general diversity amongst the student body. There is so much to see and do here. I can say, along with many other students, that the U of M is amazing.
Raquel
Eventhough the number of students at the U of M is the 2nd highest in the country, you never go a day without seeing at least 10 people you know. I was concerned about that going to such a huge school but it was not an issue at all. In fact, the diversity and large student population made my experience at the U of M that much more enriching and I never felt like just one of 60,000 but felt my role was important at the university.

The fact that it is located in the city of Minneapolis. It is such a diverse, artistic, beautiful city. Going to the University of Minnesota gives you the opportunities that come from a large city like having an internship and growing as a person. but in a very nice, kind, clean place. Minneapolis is why I chose the school.
Heather
Lots of oppurtunities.
Abbie
I love that it is located in Minneapolis and that the professors frequently use the resources the cities have to offer--we often have guest lecturers who hold top positions at corporations like Target, Cargill, and 3M--the Twin Cities has a lot to offer, and the school takes advantage of that.

There's everything going on: you can make the school as big or small as you want it. Downtown is less than a mile away, uptown is very close by, campus is big enough to provide everything you would need. You can also make the experience how you want it: join a fraternity or sorority, join clubs, or just hang out.
Whitney
It is a big school that allows students grow into their own person. Also, it provides endless oppurtunities for learning and self--discovery.
Ian
It's location. The campus is spread out and it intermingles with the Twin Cities.

I like that it is a large university and gives you a lot of opportunities to try different things. There is always something to do and always someone around to do something with. As a freshmen, it was mandatory to live in the dorm, and that's where it becomes possible to meet many people who could easily become life-long friends. Just leave your door open and be ready to meet new people. You may not like ALL of them, but you very likely will meet ones who could end up as housemates later. As well as good friends.
Chris
Lots of activities on weekend
