What's the Greek scene like?

Alexander

There Greek life presence on campus is over-bearing especially during the first month of each year. Most if not all of the fraternities and sororities serve alcohol to minors, so I think all Greek life should stop.

Greek Life is pretty popular at U of M. There are around 15 sororities (from the National Panhellinic Council) and 30 fraternities. If social fraternities aren't your thing, the university also has chapters for several multicultural fraternities/sororities, and also professional fraternities (e.g. Business Frats, Law Frats, etc.) Greek Life is a great way to meet a huge group of people. Multiple frats have parties every weekend, and although I personally am not in a sorority, I have many friends involved in Greek Life that absolutely love it! Rushing fraternities can be extremely overwhelming, but it's important that if you're considering Greek Life, you should try find out as much about the fraternities you're considering joining as you can, and make sure that you look around during Welcome Week - there are so many choices, you'll definitely find somewhere where you feel at home!
