University of Maryland-University College Top Questions

The worst thing I consider about my school is the commute. I have to travel through a lot of traffic to get to classes I take on campus.

The worst thing about UMUC is the fact that I don't have alot of student-teacher interaction. If I am struggling or need to ask questions about the material we are covering, the only options I have are to email the professor or ask other students. There is no opportunity to talk face-to-face, which is much needed in some courses.

They offer few face-to-face classes, and they don't offer the totality of classes they advertise. In my program there are 44 classes. They offer only 22, so it is difficult for people to choose what they really like.

I would like to see Hybrid classes which include online and face-to-face, it would make the learning experience more personal.

What is the worstart about my school? If I were to choose it would have to be that they don't have a photography degree program. Photography is my passion, but I figure I can deal with accounting. My logic is that one day when I open my own photography studio I'll already have the accounting and business background to help me rise above the competition. So I would love if University of Maryland University College had a photography degree program.

Believe it or not, I cannot come up with anything terrible about my college. Oh sure, I am like anyone else and can sit around griping about this or that however in actual fact I am attending a fantastic school. When it comes right down to the nth degree my college has been there for me when I was right on the edge of saying the heck with it all and was going to quit. The teachers are great and school chums I have had in classes are usually right there to lend a helping hand if one is needed.

Not haveing face to face contact with other students and the professors. All my classes are taken online and while this is a very convenient way to getmy education I do miss the interaction with other students.

I can't necessarily say that there is something awful about UMUC. The teachers are great, but staring at a computer for hours at a time may get boring. Also, participating in conferences gets old-as it can be difficult to generate a full conversation via typing.

I have not had any bad experienes with UMUC. The school itself is great. My only issues have been with the distance learning process. I would much rather be in a face-to-face classroom environment. However, I feel very fortunate for the opportunity to complete my education while outside of the United States. Also, my instructors have been very accessible and active in my educational process.

The worst thing about my school is the math department and the way they handle problems with staff. When my classmates and I had a problem with our math instructor we all contacted the dean of the math department and he said that they would handle it, but the instructor did not catch up on our grades and still never gave us feedback on our work. I do not think that the isue was ever handled.
