We have a very beautiful campus, it looks great when you arrive in the fall and it looks awesome when it is covered in snow also. The best part about the campus is the "Mall" in front of the library where everyone studies or throws around a frisbee in front of the library. The engineering students blend together very well and collaborate on certain projects or assignments to combine knowledge and teach each other how to do certain aspects of the material that the teacher couldn't provide in a 50 minute class.

Cold weather, Mainers, hockey is the big sport, not much do do outside of campus

UMaine is located in a small town that probably wouldn't even exist if it weren't for the University. Most of the town is made up from the campus. Mostly all of Orono's residents are college students. It's a classic "college town". When looking at other schools, I found little that they had to offer compared to UMO. I'm a nursing major and this program is incredibly prestigous. The NCLEX exam passing rate at UMaine is second statewide, and it's also considered the most challenging statewide. This is the primary reason I chose UMaine.

Jennifer

The school is not very diverse but it hosts a large amount of ethnic activities, groups, and functions.

Gilford

Its cheap!

This was the only school I considered. It is unique because it has a very strong community base. The people you live with are almost your family. It has a very beautiful campus that is somewhat spread out, this lets it seem more rural.

Lyla

It is big enough to be exciting and diverse, yet small enough to be inviting and friendly.

John

All the other schools I considered were out of state. I'm happy that I decided to stay in the state of which I'm a resident. My school is big, which in my opinion is a great quality. Some of the other schools I applied to were smaller more private schools.
